There was lag in every single CoD4 online game i played on the PS3, no matter if we all had perfect pings or crap ones. And the colour of the bar had little to no affect on the difference of the lag on a regular basis. The lag never affected all the shots or movements, but in all games where you had to shoot that guy an extra time or he got the jump on you when you were waiting for him to pop out from around a corner, thats lag. Maybe you guys never killed enough or shot enough to notice this

When I have full ping on the PS3 version, that never happens. Care to explain why?

Maybe due to the fact that you were lagging to other players, so you always had the jump on them.  So when they shot you, you had already moved but on their screen you should have died.

And yet, my friends don't complain about this...

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

COD4 on Ps3 had better online according to comparisons at time. And there was less wait time between getting in games.
Was the game that was slightly superior on the PS3.

I heard this from 3 different sources, so while I can't say if is true or not, was the general consensus for people that played both and compared carefully.

Maybe you or your friends are just not very good and unable to notice lag.

Ever occur to you that you and your friends might be the exception rather than the rule?  Guys, c'mon, irrespective of PSN / Live the very nature of the internet preculdes an equal experience everywhere.  Location, ISP, bandwidth, etc. all have huge impacts, ones that PSN / Live code and infrastructure cannot fully negate.

The simple fact is for some, CoD4 online probably is better on PSN, for others Live.  And unless you have any kind of large survey you're going to struggle to say one is definitively better.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

That was a very ignorant comeback, for your information. My friends have been playing the game since release. Not only that, but I would know for myself after playing both versions.

As Reasonable says, are you sure you're not the odd one out here? It's just your word against mine.

^^ i disagree with griffin about the lag but if memory serves correct. He is pretty good at the game. I remember always being shocked about seeing him complain about cod4 yet i could see that he played it fairly often

I didn't say he's bad at the game or anything. That would be equally ignorant. My point is that I never experienced inexplicable lag if I have full ping.

With COD4 it was rare to run into lag on the PS3. On the 360 though, I had serious issues with it and getting poor connections.

Also, I happen to prefer the PS3 community than the Live Community. So many pompous jerks and whiney kids who just like to hear themselves yell racist slurs all game. The PS3 community (for the most part) is more mature.

As to the lag on the PS3 version of COD4... Well, it happened sporadically, but was usually tied into an issue that IW had with the match making servers and they had to be rebooted. But that was rare. Getting into matches were quick and easy and lag was near non existent for the most part.

I ran into more lag on the 360 in my experience. Needless to say, I did get rid of the 360 because of that and the RROD.

Wrong, COD 4 looked slightly better on the 360 (textures and shadows) and also had a better average framerate (59fps 360 vs 51fps ps3) acording to the many comparison articles (eurogamer, lens of truth, ign, cvg etc), I played both versions and I also thought the 360 version ran better (seemed to look the same to me though),

Online were the SAME on both, the 360 version has better online stats and even shows how many players are in each room, it also has intergrated marketplace links which is missing on the ps3 version and superb cross game chat and party play (thats nxe though, not the actual game), but the actual online gameplay is exactly the same, it all comes down to the connection with the host and how good their connection is.

P.S, gamepro comparisons are a joke, they disagree with every other article out there just to get hits, i would much rather go with 5 well trusted articles that agree rather than one that disagrees lol.

Both CoD 4 and 5 were equal when it came to campaigns. The 360 had a slightly better graphics version but not noticeable.

It is the online part that really determines these games. CoD 4 and 5 both had much better online play on Xbox Live and I expect the same to be true of MW2. The reason is because on Xbox Live MS handles everything and it just works right in with MS's matchmaking system. On PSN Infinity Ward has to develop all that themselves and host any servers themselves.  And I am speaking from experience with both PS3 and 360 versions of MW and WaW.  The PS3 version was far laggier online and had more server/host disconnects.

So that would be the difference. If you have both consoles and value online play above all else, you should almost always get the 360 version, and I am willing to bet it will be the same with MW2 as well.

i owned both cod4 and cod5 on ps3, and have played both on 360 online. they were both the same

They're not the same. For example in COD:WAW on the 360 you have extra options when searching for games. You can change it between worldwide, locale first or locale only. The PS3 version has no such options. Also, the after action reports have never worked properly in the PS3 versions, but they work fine with the 360. Nightsurge is right. PSN has improved, but if you've got a 360 and Xbox Live Gold as well, there's no reason to buy the PS3 version of a game unless it has exclusive DLC (and the 360 has the timed exclusive DLC with MW2 of course) or unless more of your friends are picking up the PS3 version.
