And the colour of the bar had little to no affect on the difference of the lag on a regular basis. When I have full ping on the PS3 version, that never happens. Care to explain why?

Maybe due to the fact that you were lagging to other players, so you always had the jump on them. So when they shot you, you had already moved but on their screen you should have died.

Maybe you or your friends are just not very good and unable to notice lag.
