what if Sony would drop the PS3 price (or MS do the same with Xbox 360 arcade for that matter) by 10 €/$ so it would become $289,99

tell me or not, look intensively at the 289$ price mark.. that looks awfully cheap doesn't it? :O

its at the point where people who just bought one won't be angry because of the huge price difference and where people can't say its at a 300$ price..

thats the brilliant thing, the 1 cent difference is easily overlooked, however, what about a difference thats 1001 times as big :O

They'd be losing out on $10 per console to subconciously convince a few customers that they aren't paying as much as they think.

Sony would have lost over $2 million in revenue this week alone with that move.

When looking at price, $299.99 and $300 are as close as you can get but in the minds of the consumer, $299.99 isn't $300 so it's just another price bracket. It's still in that $200 range even if it is pretty much $300.

For the difference between $289.99 and $299.99, it's still in that upper $200 bracket and just doesn't matter. Nobody will see $289.99 and think that's just almost $300 and buy it, they will just see the same thing as #299.99.

So good try, but not good idea. I think people that it's there job to figure stuff out like that would have thought of that idea long ago if it actually worked.

I think the price of $283.14 is more appealing... just look at it, it makes the PS3 look alot cheaper lol. Its like when Batman AA was $38.83 ...i mean its hardly any diff than if it was $39.99 ..but it felt that people bought it for hell of a lot cheaper than $39.99 lol
