Saudi man jailed for sex talk on TV

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - The lawyer of a Saudi man who appeared to be bragging about his sex life in a TV talk show says his client has been sentenced to five years in jail over the frank comments.

Sulaiman al-Jumeii says he will appeal the court's ruling. Al-Jumeii insists the interview, broadcast July 15 on the Lebanese LBC channel, was manipulated and that his client, Mazen Abdul-Jawad, was not aware in many instances that he was being recorded.

Al-Juneii says three other men who appeared on the same TV broadcast were sentenced to two years each.

The program begins with Abdul-Jawad apparently talking about the first time he had sex.

The interview shocked many in this conservative country where such frank talk is rarely heard in public.

That's how we Middle Easterns roll

It's a cultural thing. You don't openly speak about your sex life, it's unethical and considered a stab at the wife's dignity and the dignity of her family. Usually the family takes matters in their own hands ( a good ol' fashion ass-whooping) and resolve the issue quietly and as secretly as possible. Why this went to court confuzzles me.
