Forums - Gaming - Interstellar Marines. Forget screenshots and videos. New method here.

The developers for IM are using a new method for showing off their game engine. They call it 'THE VAULT'

You need to download a 3.18 mb file to view the engine in the browser. Now Pre Acess is in 2 days, and then enlisted acess is in 4 days. Here is a video preview to go with the unveiling.

Go here for the download:

PS2 graphics?

From what Ive seen the game looks very good in videos of the engine. The idea of The Vault is to experience and interact with the engine in realtime. So you can experience what the engine looks like ( although in a lower res probably ) and see what the game may be like. Much closer to the game than screenshots and videos ever could be. IM looks quite gorgeous, dont know where the PS2 thng comes from. But maybe you should wait for The Vault to be opened before judging the engine.

I hope more devs do this. Bullshots are a thing of the past with this.

like a mouldy piece of cheese in the fridge, or skidmarks in underpants, bullshots will always be around.

which is sad - I find this method a pretty good one. hopefully though with a bit of trickery they can get the vault to show graphics at a similar level to what the final product will be.

But then that kind of begs the question - why not just release a full demo in the first place instead of having it run online?
