Forums - Sales - Wal Mart scaling back DVD displays latest blow to Blu Ray

It's happening similar to CD's.

It was always pretty obvious that Blu-Ray's growth wouldn't make up for DVD's decline, due to download services, netflix and the like.

But more importantly BluRay marketshare to DVD Market share is declining to. It's around 6% last week. Last year this time it was 13%

It is happening faster than I thought it would. Netflix is too damn good a service to make me want to buy movies anymore.

Meh Bluray will continue to have it's place as an alternative to sub DVD quality video streaming.

I cant tell the difference between watching a 720p movie off of Live and watching Sky HD or Full Metal Jacket on BluRay.

good for us the consumers, this will surly push them into lowering bluray prices

Perhaps you have a crappy TV or need glasses? The difference is glaring. The Netflix streams don't even look as good as DVD and I have a fast connection for the highest quality stream. It says 1080p but it looks gray and washed out which is fine for TV shows or low budget films but nothing epic.

I dont have Netflix. I was referring to the hundreds of available HD films to rent or buy on Live itself. They are perfect 720p quailty. M$ are bringing them in 1080P very soon. Saves me loads of money.

Does it really save you loads of money to fill your propritary 360 HDD with HD movies?

I get my blurays from Netfilix. I've only bought about 1% of the blurays I've watched.
