Because Sepiroth would likely be dead before then.

I mean, it should be noted that Link has actually done some pretty insane feats himself if you want to get in a silly fanboy game like this.

I mean the guy has lifted Gorons before which have to way a large amount of tons.

 It was Cloud under Sephiroths control. All Soldiers were infused with Jenova cells. All the shadows that Sephiroth controlled through out the game were members of Soldier.

Objective opinion: They're from two completely different games, Cloud couldn't destroy Gannon with the weapons/items found in FF7 and Link couldn't kill Sephiroth with the weapons/items found in LoZ. So that argument is moot.

If you put the two in a death match cage with all the major items from their respective series equiped and removed clouds turn-based gameplay. You have the pay-per-view event of infinity that could only be determined in said cage match in real life. This is never going to happen so the only way to find out for sure is:
a) Pray god answers this question for you when die.
or
b) Ask fanbois what they think and let them argue over it until they die.

Either way the question will never have a conclusive answer in this lifetime.

Well...Cloud got impaled by Sephiroth and survived...(correct me if i'm wrong)
Plus, Cloud could just summon a Bahamut or Knights of the Round O_o

Link. That is all I have to say.

Link washed up on the shore of an island after several days at sea floating around on a piece of wood (LA). He spent seven years without food or water and still manage to grom up. (OoT) He got turned into a little pink bunny every time he went to the Dark Hyrule until he aquired the Master Sword (LttP). Galavanted through different times and demensions (OoA, OoS). floated around the ocean on a talking ship. (WW). Turned into a wolf while in the shadow realm. (TP).
The point is just because something completely unrealistic has happened to the main character in order to develop story line and atmosphere, doesn't make him/her a bad ass. The hard figures are what really matter (see below)

Link has  had at least 12 recognized full-length video games in wich he starred as the main character. Each one of these was adored by critics and recieved average scores of 8.5 or better (Cdi titles don't count since they aren't recognized as Zelda cannon). The greatest game of all time (according to gamerankings) is a Legend of Zelda title.

In addition to the main games Link has cameoed in unrelated games as a playable character some even third-party titles. (Soul Calibur, Smash Bros, ect.)

Link has had his own Television show:

Had his name on Cereal, and fruit snacks.

Had countless merchendising cash-ins:

What has Cloud had in real life? True he was part of a video games series that has spanned 13 main titles and countless spin-offs but he was only in one of those as a main character. He also stared in a 1 hour 30 min straight to DVD tech demo for the PS3. (Advent Children)

Link would annihilate Cloud and Sepiroth in a fight. Hell, Link whoops Ganon's ass all the time like it's nothing. And, hell, if things start to get messy, Link just uses Nayru's Love and he's surrounded by an impenetrable shield.
