Forums - Sony - PSPgo gets discounted

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/05/uk-retailers-already-discounting-psp-go/

Following the first weekend of PSP Go sales, at least four UK retailers are offering sale prices on the new handheld. Amazon.co.uk, Play, HMV and GAME have all discounted the device to £199.99, which – while still really expensive (it converts to around US $319) – is a significant drop from the MSRP of £224.99.

While it's tempting to just write this off as the PSP Go bombing, we're guessing that the MSRP includes some room for retailer profit (unlike the standard price points for most consoles), and these stores are cutting the margins a bit in the interest of competitiveness. Of course, we don't know what the margin is for a Go, but we doubt all these companies would resort to a price drop so soon if they weren't still going to make a lot of money on the venture.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I heard UK retailers didn't want to support it to begin with.

I am really tempted to buy one to put into storage with the 3DO, LYNX and Jaguar... but I don't own a 3DO, LYNX, or Jaguar, so I think I am going to sit this one out too.

That being said, I really want a PSP2000 or 3000. I want Crisis Core and FF Dissidia so bad.

A PSP-2000 + Crisis Core + Dissidia = All you need, smart man to pick the best of the best, and you should grab a 2000 if you can, there about $50 to $100 cheaper overall then the PSPGo and 3000 give or take.

Well that was quick, Sony did what most company's do, jack the price way up at the begining, the people who really want the product, will buy it, after R&D costs are covered by the early birds, the price starts dropping, and the product sells better.

Btw...what's the difference between the 2000 and the 3000?

1000? :P

I think I'll hold back on the purchase a couple more months. As much as you want it, I'm sure you can get it much cheaper.
I want it but I'm waiting it out.

Wasn't there people on this very site from UK who said the PSP Go price is way to high and they fully expect retailers to cut the price by about 20 pounds off of the MSRP like they do with every other system?

Is this even really a surprise if someone has been saying retailers will do this all along?

i'll buy it when it reaches 300£, not under.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Guess I made the right decision to wait for it to drop. Hopefully the US Price will be at 200 soon.
