Now, if the definition of "peak" means power in the market relative to the other two consoles, and this is an intangible measure not best defined by sales or profits but rather a combination of things like this....then the PS3 will probably grow in power as the generation moves on as Blu-ray will get more and more popular, which will only help the PS3.

I'd say it'll peak when the PS3 is at $199

And by the way things are going that could be in a LONG time

CGI has the right idea, look at DS for example, usually systems peak in their third year but DS is on it's way to having it's best year this year which is also it's 5th year.

XBOX 360 looks like it's having it's best year too, in it's 4th year. This generation is like none other and you just can't go by past trends to make a case any more.. The PS3 has a mass market price point now and a very good back catalogue of exclusives along with many great exclusives coming in the next year. Blu-Ray, Wi-Fi and free online are all aspects that put it ahead of the 360 and will mean the added cost is negated if consumers see value in these things.

I think 2010 will be the PS3's peak year in terms of hardware sales but you just can't tell any more. It'll be an interesting few years that's for sure!

By Xmas It'll be on the market for 30 weeks =1.1 million and maybe from xmas it will reach up to 1.5 million so 2 million Liftetime of in a year even is likely.

Imo it depends on the sustainability of the PS3 after Christmas Holidays 2009. If the PS3 somewhat sustains it's sales for the 3 months after Christmas then it should do really well in 2010. I say 3 months into 2010 because that is when GT releases in Japan and you also have to account for all the games (exclusives/multi's) coming out at around that time to further sustain the PS3's sales right into the holidays of 2010. It really does depend on how far and in between big games are for the PS3. March is just going to be huge, GT in Japan and GoW3 in America/Europe. I think if GT6/GTA5/MGS5 were to release all in the same year then there would be wonderful sales but the chances of that happening are pretty slim to none.

^^GTA 5 will probably come out next christmas, GT6 2011 christmas, MGS5 who really knows right.

But if...just imagine how huge that would be! All those titles (maybe not GT but who knows) could come out in 2011.
