A compare and contrast essay on anything i want... cant think of anything good 

 

Any suggestion? 

All i got is PS3 vs. Wii and College vs. High School but both are giving me organization problems

They may be a bit to broad.. It only has to be a five paragraph essay. The last one caught my eye though. I probably havent watched enough futurama to be able to write a good paper though

I can give you advice on essays, but I can't actually give you an argument. Just general things like...


  • Explain and critique a range of theories. 

  • Try and find something that makes your essay unique (a hook, examiners like hooks A LOT).

  • Good sources are VERY important so when doing research, so do it well. 

  • Use academic language and remember to be impersonal, words like "Me" and "I" are like spitting in the markers face.

  • When you explain something, don't write in a manner that assumes the reader understands what you are talking about, it's like shooting yourself in the foot.

  • Don't use the Internet for anything other than case studies and tracking down extracts from peer reviewed papers and original texts. The Internet is often full of questionable crap.

  • Remember reading good information widely will result in proper understanding.

  • Learn how to defend your own opinion, how you do this is more up to your own writing style than anything.

  • Remember to plan before you write, a lot of people write without planning and these are the people that fail. Think about you introduction, the aim of the essay, the objectives to be completed to fulfil the aim, the methodology and the main points and angles of the essay.

 

Most of what I just said is probably useless, but I hope some of it helped.

If you want topics, then what interests you? What can you specialise in?

Such a broad subject and that's what you come up with? Lame.

I would have more fun with it and discuss the random things (10 pages on apples vs. oranges) to the far out (10th dimension vs the 11th dimension in 1997) to fun (compare weekly world news headlines!).

NOTE-- My entire purpose for that paper would be to punish the professor for making such a broad assignment.

Haha, 10th Vs 11th dimension classic.

I've found that if you want to get a high grade, choosing a topic that is relevant, interesting but one the examiner has probably not come across before is a sure fire way of getting better grades.

Compare the cultures of two countries. It will be boring, but you will likely get a good grade. And that's all that really matters in this world.

String Theory confuses the living crap out of me.

I don't even know if they're talking about spatial dimensions or not. Or even if they would be called spatial.
