Forums - Sony - PS3-3D AHHH

It depends.

From what I heard SONYs 3D is a little different then typical 3D. You don't use polarized glasses. Instead, you use glasses which alternate left and right visibility meaning the glasses will most likely require power somehow and synced with the PS3.

I'm not saying it's worse or better, but it's something different then what is typical.

this was actually done a long time ago (master system - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Master_System#SegaScope_3-D_Glasses ). They used a cord directly from the system. It only had 6 games.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I've had 3D on my 61in HDTV for many moons now..

I could be watching my Movies, Shows, Sports, PC Games, in 3D, but it all comes down to cost.

Ya it's nice my PS3 will support it, but atm who gives a shet..

I have had 3D gaming in my home sense the 80's with my SEGA Master system with Real Working 3D glasses.

Oh LOL. They've probably improved it a lot since then though if that's what they're doing. But knowing how the motion sensor looks...

I have a 3d capable TV...and I have NVidia 3D glasses... and will trully be impressed if PS3 pulls Killzone 2 in 3d. Actually I dont think itll happen...

There is actually no way they can do it unless they use some blue red trickery...which would be a real cruel joke calling it 3d.

PS3 isn't powerful enough to render retail games at true 3D. Game has to run at 120 Frames per second...60 for each eye. Hence why you need a 120Hz TV, otherwise if PS3 doesn't render it in 120 Hz you may as well use any LCD TV and enjoy the flicker.

Thats essentially the exact same 3D tech used today and that will most likely be used by PS3. The old CRT TV's were 100 HZ so they could pull off the effect and render the game at 50Hz for each eye and you woldn't notice. The LCD's however were all 60 HZ until recently which does not work with this tech as you get bad flicker and a headache.

The problem is processing power. Master system did not have any issues rendering Space harier 2X at 50 Hz per eye...but PS3 and 360 can not render Gears of war and Uncharted at 60 frames...let alone the 120 that is needed. (60 per eye)

i think it could be potentially mindblowing. i'm not looking forward to playing with glasses on, as my wife thinks i'm too big of a dork already.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Ask me again when I've bought a 3D-ready TV.

So in about.... 5 years

you don't need  special TV anymore. look at this

The 3D is done by head tracking its not actually popping out be simulated and boy it looks awesome.

No ofence but you really want people to take a post, with no source lsited, and a video example that shows nothing about what the post is talking about seriously?

That post is pure make bleieve and this will not work like this. You will still need a 3D capable TV...and 2 PS3s possibly.

Well, as far as I know, 3D has nothing to do with the TV but with the video that the tv is playing and the glasses you wear. I mean, to make a 3D movie you just need to put two different videos taken from different perspective together playing at the same time and with some special glasses you'll be able to see the movie with the combined video and in 3D. I'm not an expert at this at all but that's what I've been told.

Could I be right? If I am, then you wont need a special tv really..

PS: My first post, yay.
