Forums - Sales - Does Nintendo think Wii's cut isn't giving the desired result?

During the first few days after the cut, Nintendo broadcasted in Italy short, anonymous ads saying more or less "Wii, now available at 199.99€".

A few days after, the ad changed they dug up the main Wii testimonials, a peak audience making TV comedian-anchorman and one of his stooges-assistants, and now they say something like "Psst, don't tell anybody, now you can find Wii at LESS THAN 199.99€"

Quite strange, first, they do quite bland ads and only tell about the new official price, a few day after they hire again their most expensive and famous testimonials in Italy and suggest there are further unofficial cuts?

Or maybe it's just a bigger ad campaign like Sony's?

well they gotta let ppl know the price is going down

Yes, but now they say "less than 199.99", this implies some retailers are furtherly discounting Wii immediately after the cut and Nintendo is officially backing this.

^^
Maybe, but I dont think buyers will react cheerfully if an officially announced further discount turns out to be 3 cents.

I just checked, the biggest further discount I found online is a 4.99€ one. I don't know anything about megastores discounts, yet, but I can guess it's simply usual matter of some stores trying to attract more buyers, otherwise I could have found more significant further discounts at a lot more online stores.
So most probably it isn't lack of confidence, but Nintendo taking advantage of every little bit available to maximize the cut's effect.

Yeah I don't think Nintendo's really worried about Wii's sales right now. I mean, the pricecut just took effect a few short days ago, they probably don't even have any official sales numbers yet, why would they be dissatisfied and cut the price even more. :p Nintendo's a big bussiness, and one of the most succesful ones on the entire planet, I think they know what they're doing. ;)

They're so desperate. Putting out advertisements and cutting the price twice within a week!

amazon probably has a promotion similar to what they had for the PS3 Slim where you could get the system for three cents cheaper than the RRP.

Lol, That's hillariously clever

Honestly, do JRPG makers even realize how hard it is to save the world? That shit is impossible!

Are you sure they said under 199.99 and not under $200?

When people advertise in the Us when they say "Under $200!" they mean $199.99.
