Forums - Sales - Holy Crap: Canadians get parity on PS3 price?

There it is.

Non-Canadians maybe won't appreciate the significance of this, but Canada has never gotten price parity on consumer electronics. This is huge.

This thing also comes with Enchanted Arms (along with the Motorstorm pack-in) as a bonus. The only concern is that the site calls it a "sale price," as if they might withdraw it at any time. The front page calls it a "$160 price drop" though, so I think it's the real deal.

Another interesting thing is that the 60 gig is going for $479. It doesn't come with any games though, so for the first time the 80 gig is actually the better deal.

And for the record, the 60 gig is now only $30 more than the PS2 was here at this point in its lifespan. The 80 gig is $50 more.

Ok, Sony, you got me. Maybe not until the end of the year, but I'm onboard.

What's a parity?

yea but at this point in ps2's lifespan the canadian dollar was something like 66 cents to a dollar. I remember i went to Canada 5 years ago and that was the exchange rate. Now the Canadian dollar is actually stronger than the US dollar, it's really quite amazing.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Don't blame the conservative government! We have one too.

I'm loving the fact it's the same price as in the USA, what a grreat day for Canada and our mighty DOLLAR!
I just went back and got $100 from where I purchased my PS3 in Canada. If anyone pays more then $449 for the 60GB, they're getting overcharged.

Apparently Wal-Mart Canada is planning to drop prices of video games down to US levels in time for the Christmas season. Looks like it's finally starting to happen.

Thats pretty good offer. Also did Sony lower the price of the 60GB yet? I know that the 80GB went from $600 to $500 and that they are selling the 20GB for $380 from $450.

Officially, the 60gb is the same price as the 80gb. In reality, you'll find it for $450, if you can find it at all.

"Free Lair with purchase of the PS3 80GB Console" No one is going to buy it now ;)

We Canadians better enjoy it while it lasts...
