Got one yesterday as well, besides games its already replaced my ipod touch. Took it the gym to listen to music while working out and about 7 people asked about it lol

Yeah you got it, it has replaced your ipod touch. Thats what sony is aiming for, they are not trying to sell you less for more, they didnt discontinued the psp 3000. They want to sale small multimedia player that also play games. They are in the right price point if you compare to Ipod video, ipod touch...

The reviewers and most peoples completely missed the point. Also most games on PSN is cheaper then retail right now. If I was not into hacking like euphoria14 I would get one for sure. I think the PSPgo will prolly also sales to peoples that dont even wanna play games.

Bottom line: the PSPgo is not compare to what it should when reviewed. It offers so much more than a Ipod video/touch for almost same price.

When I showed it to people they all wanted one too...

One of my friends said she just wanted it to watch videos, and maybe get a game like scrabble.

The fact that it's small, looks cool, and has a great screen are huge to the general public.

Yup exactly, the reviewers completely missed the point. I have no problem trusting you on the fact you had a friend that would get one for movies and not even play games. After all Ipod sell at 200$ and its all downloading and uploading on the memory, but no games like on PSP, no wi-fi, no bluetooth, doesnt read as much file extension, screen is smaller, screen not as bright, cannot be plug on a tv and so on. Also if you own a Ipod you know as much as me that an ipod is more hastle than a PSP to configure on your PC or friends PC.

They didnt discontinued the PSP 3000 because the PSPgo is aiming toward other needs. I would like to be able to use my PSP as  MP3 but obviously the PSP 2000 that I have is way too big, and always have to place the control on hold if you dont want to mess up while doing things. If it could be hack I would get one now and sell the 2000 because you can do sooooo much with a hack PSP (not talking about piracy).

^I don't get the gripe either, im a big supporter of DD myself.

I don't think the gaming media is ready to accept that sony and even microsoft are trying to move away from their devices just being gaming hubs and moving onto media hubs. So until that becomes mainstream I will expect terrible reviews.

People against digital only games come off as retrograde to me. It's not evil reincarnated. What it is, is a new system and as such the kinks will be worked out as we go along. If you want to contribute to its beginning, you can, if you don't, then refrain from it.
Do not, however, scream and run in circles in denial because it is the direction we are facing and walking to.

As for myself, I would love to have a PSP go. I'm waiting for the time when there are third party digital stores (ex.: GameStop or Amazon or GAME stores, where you can buy digital only versions as well, spawning price competition. I believe they are coming as well.) and when the device isn't as expensive as it is now.

Please could you actually give valid reasoning for your outrageous opinion on digital distribution being the future?

Why should we not "scream in denial"?

Why should we listen to you?

Why do you think there will be 3rd party digital stores? Are you insane? There will never be 3rd party digital stores on a CLOSED DISTRIBUTION NETWORK OWNED WHOLEY BY A COMPANY, to think that a company would give up a potential slice of their main revenue generator other than the ridiculously overpriced hardware is laughable...

...Very uninformed and ignorant post!

Actually his opinion is not as false as you would think. We are going to more and more digital distribution, if it becomes the norm, there will be laws to force first party to let 3rd party also distribute.  Usually once something is a monopoly, governments will unite and vote law to have proper competition. An example would be when microsoft was force by law to stop using internet explorer as default internet browser. Governments hates monopoly, unless you live in a legaly messed up country.

I need more popcorn.

Not at all, you simply haven't explained convincingly your opinion. It could just as easily be said that you are in denial. I have no doubt that DD will overtake retail sales at some point. But we're certainly not at that point when there are better value orientated substitutes. The PSP-Go will fail because of this, I mean the original PSP isn't exactly a sales revelation in the 1st place so it's not like the Go has much of a reputation to help it along like the Nintendo DS might have for example.

What like the iPod?

The Law hasn't done anything to open up that particular multibillion $ distribution network. I agree surely one day there will be legislation to stop monopolies and so on. But that day is a long way away, more like years.

Yes, because selling more than 50 million pieces of a device isn't really much to write home about.

For proof, look at Steam, Direct-2-Drive, DLC being gobbled up in great amounts by console and PC owners, the recent PSP go, etc. The steps are baby like, but growing in confidence. Nobody said that we are at the point where retail sales are second to digital ones. I said that we are surely going there, and anyway, even you admit when you say you believe that DD will overtake retail sales.

It's always been like this with Sony products, PS3 fat : bashed for its price point, the use of blu-ray and for its look, but most people who got one loved it and didn't regret buying.
PS3 slim : people were horrified by its design, and whined about the new logo, the lack of touch sensitive buttons, the "cheap" looking plastic and what else, now it's discribed as sleek, silent and sexy.
It'll be the same for the PSPgo. People should give some credit to Sony, they've been manufacturing hardwares for 60 years, they probably know what they're doing.

There is a lot of bad information being spread about the GO. It's as if some people are scared of it.

1) You can add more memory storage via the slot. Just that the memory stick format is different to the old PSP. Is it M2? I forget.

2) It does not replace the 3000. Consumers will have the option of both. The 3000 will continue to be sold. Presumably until the rumoured 4000 arrives.

PSN - hanafuda

I just don't think the gaming media is ready to let go of 'LOL SonY FAILS LAWLZ". I mean its been the norm for so long now.
