This looks like the best RPG on the Wii so far.  In fact, nothing else looks like it comes close (there's no others I find worht buying).  That's not saying this game is great though, just more of an observation on the lack of decent RPGs.  I'm picking the game up tonight and I'm not expecting it to stack up well against PC RPGs, but I still hope it's fun.

Numen looks like it's going to be the next decent RPG.  I'm keeping my eye on that one.

That is a very stupid thing to say. Especially when much better RPGs like Fire Emblem, Phantom Brave, and Dawn of the New World have already came out. Arc Rise Fantasia, and Fragile came out in Japan. Crystal Bearers and Tales of Graces are upcoming ones. Maybe the best RPG that fits into the WRPG sub-genre, which infact this game doesn't.

Fire Emblem was terrible.    Dawn of the New World isn't even an RPG, it's a strategy game where you micro-manage everything.

You should be banned for such blasphemy!

To say that Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New world is: 1). Not an RPG, 2). a strategy game, 3). has heavy micromanagement is just insane.  You sure you weren't playing a different game?

You're right.  I was thinking Dawn of Discovery.

^^ lulz

anyway... what does everybody think of this game? if anyone honestly recomends it I think i'll get.

i was planning on getting it but the bad reviews discouraged me a lot :(

it could have scored a negative 2 out of 10 and i would still buy it.of course at that point i would probably buy it for laughs. but still.

It's not bad.  I haven't gotten too deeply in to it yet so I can't tell you how good or bad it really is, but it's fun so far.  Graphics could have been great, but they're not (lack of color and resolution seems a little low, but I've seen much worse), I am concerned about a lack of spells (it doesn't seem like there will be too many), and it's easy to get lost in some of the quests.  It's not a bad game, but I don't think it will define the genre.

I've just been hunting random baddies and hoping they drop equipment.  Appraise and sell it.  I've only put about 3 hrs into so far though.

Based on what I've played so far, I'd buy it again.  It's a bit unpolished in some areas, but character development seems decent enough.  The game seems to encourage you to switch classes, and I'm not really a fan of that.  I'd much rather specialize in one area instead of swapping between classes to get the skills you need, but I can see the appeal for some people.  I don't like how there's no spell book, but that's just my preference for old school cRPGs from the 90s talking.  So far, it's not bad -- but it's not great either.  I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10 (the 4.0 out of 10 it got is absurd).  It's solid, but it's not going to win any awards.  If you generally like RPGs, you should like this game.  It has what it takes to absorb your attention for hours.

For the record, this game is much better than Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.

So no one tried online co-op yet...?

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

almost done with part 1 I think money is still an issue. I'd give this game a 7.5 out of 10 to me mushroom men and Alien Syndrome were more 4/10. The graphics on this game beat Tales Of Symphonia hands down though.
