This looks like the best RPG on the Wii so far.  In fact, nothing else looks like it comes close (there's no others I find worht buying).  That's not saying this game is great though, just more of an observation on the lack of decent RPGs.  I'm picking the game up tonight and I'm not expecting it to stack up well against PC RPGs, but I still hope it's fun.

Numen looks like it's going to be the next decent RPG.  I'm keeping my eye on that one.

That is a very stupid thing to say. Especially when much better RPGs like Fire Emblem, Phantom Brave, and Dawn of the New World have already came out. Arc Rise Fantasia, and Fragile came out in Japan. Crystal Bearers and Tales of Graces are upcoming ones. Maybe the best RPG that fits into the WRPG sub-genre, which infact this game doesn't.

What are you talking about?  Fire Emblem was terrible.  Phantom Brave is yet another goofy jRPG.  Dawn of the New World isn't even an RPG, it's a strategy game where you micro-manage everything.  Crystal Bearers could prove me wrong, but it's not even out yet so it doesn't count and looks like it's going to be more of an action adventure than an RPG anyway.  All the games (except Crystal Bearers) you mention are cartoonish and many are more RPG light than a full fledged RPG.  Valhalla knights is the first RPG on the Wii that takes itself seriously.  I just got back from the store with it so I'll be able to soon tell how it stacks up against RPGs I usually play on my computer.

LOL.  I understand Fire Emblem has a ton of appeal to many people.  I'm just not one of them.  I just don't like the style, and the RPG elements seemed kind of week.  I found moving to a different screen for battles annoying (I have never seen a game do that before), especially since it was just an animation.  I guess I'm just not a jRPG fan, and if you don't like jRPGs then Valhalla Knights is the only RPG worth playing.

So far the game is ok.  I wouldn't call it great, but it's good.  I can't wait to see what Numen is like.

Fire Emblem was terrible.    Dawn of the New World isn't even an RPG, it's a strategy game where you micro-manage everything.

You should be banned for such blasphemy!

To say that Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New world is: 1). Not an RPG, 2). a strategy game, 3). has heavy micromanagement is just insane.  You sure you weren't playing a different game?

My local GS manager pre-ordered the game for himself. I will have to ask him what he thinks of it.

It is very true that certain games appeal to some people and completely turn off others. That is probably the case here.

Fire Emblem is one of my favourite games. Still, I agree roleplaying is not a major component of the game. I would describe Fire Emblem as a Fantasy Tactical Combat game with some roleplaying elements.

I am curious about Eldar Saga. This thread put it on my radar.

Fire Emblem is an SRPG. It is what it is.
