At first I thought maybe this should be in the other thread asking for features and additions, but I think it needs it's own thread(which will be either accepted or struck quickly). As I lay here lounging on my sweetass couch with my best friend/greatest dog in the world, Sable, I was thinking about the thread someone had started asking for everyone's top 5 games of the year so far. I started pondering my favorites(Metroid Prime 3), games I hope are quality enough to be GotY contenders(Galaxy), and games which will probably win their share of GotY awards this year(Galaxy, Bioshock, Halo 3). I don't know why, but along with finding sales date for games, I've always loved reading Nintendo Power, EGM, Gamespot, and IGN yearly awards. So I though that maybe vgchartz should have their own awards, or at least games of the year for each system. I think it's something that ioi and the mods should decide, but I wouldn't recommend having an overall game of the year; this would just piss a lot of fanboys off when their system's big game didn't take the top prize. That being said, I really don't know if ioi and the mods are able to play enough games so that they could make their judgements with plenty of games to consider. I mean, if everyone on the staff had only played a handful of games on one system, it would make the awards seem a little lacking. Of course the awards could be handed out and we'd never have to know if the team had played a lot of games or not anyways. The awards could be announced, and perhaps their could be an article detailing the sales of each game, the effect each could have on their system, etc. Sounds like a good idea to me. But I imagine with the amount of work that goes into the site, time may be an issue(especially when everyone is recovering from the holiday blitz). I hope the idea is accepted, as it would not only feed my awards fetish, but would help flesh out the sight and add some legitimacy(unless games like Balls of Fury sweep the awards).
