Forums - Sony - The PSP Go Launch

Well folks just got back from work.

We got in 8 PSP Gos.

We sold...

Ready?

0.

However we did have one or two people asking about it. I have a co-worker interested cuz his son has ruined his games before so he is thinking going 100% digital distribution.

This will sell well in Japan (as usual) but elsewhere? I'm doubtful. Sony has to give more benefits and reduce the price to $180 or less.

Edit: Will also sell to suckers (like me, or atleast I use to be) for people that "must have" the latest and greatest gadgets. I don't foresee this selling well in the long run without a big price drop and more free games to download (You can get GT Prologue for free supposedly right now).

Ninja Ultra Edit: I did not see the mark up on these things through my telezon.

why do people hate change so much, psp go is not trying to set the world on fire. Give it a chance, its very slick and very well built im glad i bought it. if i listened to you peeps i would be upset. I dont l like umd's at all i hate the sound the umds make. and the psp runs the game on memory alot faster and quieter. Its small enough to actually use as a media device now so its existence is not such a bad thing.

I hope it sells well.

In comparison, how many PSP-3000 does your store sell today? or this week?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Actually I think that Go might see some nice sales in Japan. They just love everything small. In rest of the world Go will be flop.

not after they cut the price of PSP-3000 from 19800 yen to 16800 yen.

PSP-3000 is cheaper than DSi in Japan now, and PSPgo costs 10000 yen more than PSP-3000.

considering the huge library and massive popularity of those classic PS games on PSN over there, they may be the only pushing power of PSPgo in Japan.  yeah, hardcore Monster Hunter gamers don't like PSPgo because the distance between D-pad and analog stick is too close to play that game.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Quit making silly excuses. It's selling badly because Sony fucked it up.

what silly excuses?  too expensive?

so can you come up any other reason Sony f**ked up?

@saicho

It would not be uncommon for my store to sell upwards of 6 or more PSPs a week. Our average across the last four weeks between the Hannah Montana, Regular PSP and Rockband bundles was 6 on average. Last week we sold 8 but previous week it was 4.

The PSP sells pretty well at our store.
