Polyphony Digital reveals that a weather system may not be guaranteed for Gran Turismo 5.

We thought French website JVN.com may have been a little bit snap happy with their exclusive GT5 reveals yesterday. After their visit to Polyphony Digital, they wrote that GT5 would be getting a day & night cycle, and rain.

Well, in an interview with IGN, Polyphony Digital head Kazunori Yamauchi responded to a question about a weather system being included in the PlayStation 3 game:

"We can implement it, but don't know yet whether we're going to put it in or not," said Yamauchi-san.

Don't fret though. We believe that both the day & night cycle and weather system will be in the game in another form. Day races, night races, rain races etc.

It would be a little bit much to presume real-time changes to the time of day and weather while in the middle of a race. Then again, Polyphony has plenty of time to surprise us before the game's March 2010 release.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I'm sure they will include weather at least to some degree.

Day/Night cycle not guaranteed for Gran Turismo 5 ...

This has got to be the longest running soap opera in the games industry:

- GT5 won't have damage, oh wait it will, oh wait only on some cars. Just kidding, it has damage.
- GT5 will have weather, oh wait maybe it will, maybe not (6 months from being launched)

Better to just shut up and get the damn game out (the same goes for Turn 10 with Forza 3 btw).

I was expecting it to be in the form of night races, day races & rain races...

I mean real-time day/night cycles and rain in the middle of the rain would only work in long races (like the 24h ones)

Imagine racing a 3-lap race and in the 5 mins of racing you get day, night and rain hahhaha that would suck

Im sure they will implement weather.

It might take a little while longer tho !

What do you think is responsible for long running soaps like this: Uninformed forum posts that were written by people who believe everything they read on the internet, and of course the media that interpret comments the wrong way. Also, wrong translations. Those are the main reasons for most of these soaps.

I wish people just think for themselves and don't believe everything they read on the internet that is NOT directly confirmed by developers and publishers.

F3 had its announcement at this years E3 - GT5 was announced some years ago. F3 is less then a month awayand it looks like Turn 10 will be highly successful. So what's your problem?

they just never stop to claim their game is the best :

at E3 : "we are the real driving simulator", quite recently in an interview : "we are years away from competition"

their released bullshot after bullshot (whatever it is from photomode or not, it is years away from their in game engine

and whatever if their game sell or not, get good review or not, we already know that it is not the most pretty and that the damage are quite similar to FM2

As said NJ5 : Better to just shut up and get the damn game out

Just look at Naughty"God" with Uncharted ... no big talk but big game !!!
