Either delayed or stringing people along take your pick...  For the past three years of conferences Sony has shown GT5.  Sony was either deceiving fans by showing "vapourware" or delaying the releases...

Either way, it is wrong to do this to your consumers.

Microsoft has a similar story for Alan Wake.  The difference is that they have explicitly delayed it.  With Sony you don't really know when a game will actually ship.  The first time we see it may mean within the next 6 months to 4 years (Killzone 2)...   

Its true. Turn 10 themsleves are to blame. they had to bash other games and talk like big headed maniacs and angered the fanbases of other games - specially GT ofcourse.

"nothing on the market is within years of forza 3" - three words - arrongant and ignorant developers.

from n4g - the term "definitive racing game of the current generation" popped up no less than four times during the debut of the game at Microsoft's flashy pre-E3 briefing. 

It was more or less a direct go at Sony and Polyphony Digital's long-awaited PlayStation 3 simulation racer Gran Turismo 5, whose release date is still to be determined.

I had an internship there as a software developer (in Denmark, not the US), for 18 months.

They showed GT5 in the past years but did they announce an offcial release date that they can't meet?

And you said it was delayed again so i assume they announced a release date multiple times that I haven't heard of.

a few points that came to mind

- You have a GT Avatara so I'm not taking you seriously at all

- Yes the devs seem a bit arrogant

- Forza is class nevertheless

- My gut tells me GT5's gonna be so polished that it'll be better though

You're picking at straws. 

Why show software years before it is released? 

You are either trying to "freeze" sales in the market to encourage consumers to wait for your release (GT5) or you are fearful that consumers will choose the releasing product (Forza 3) over your product because consumers won't see or feel a significant difference.

I thought crashing into cement barriers was pointless. All the GT5 fans said crashing isn't needed. Yet now, simulating a crash is more important than simulating car to ground interactions? Fanboys need to make up their mind on which simulations need to be done. These processors can only simulate so many things at once.

Well the blog is correct on a few things. Turn 10's arrogance is ridiculous and will only act to over-hype the game and dissappoint people that actually decided to listen to the tripe. If they didn't say anything then people wouldn't have such high expectations and less people would be dissappointed. I still think the game will be sucessful, just that the comments may have a "Peter Molyneux" effect.
