Forums - Microsoft - Turn 10 responds to Forza III graphics complaints

I think it looked fine. But I want to turn off damage, does anyone know how/if possible and maybe if not if it will be in the final build? I like the way sims feel, but I like invincible cars too!

"But does it justify the vitriol of some of the threads I've scanned this morning? I'm not sure that it does."

Next time, close ur fucking mouth and you will not get these threads ...

You wanted GT5 head and you knew that GT gfx have always been very good
= FM3 gfx are supposed to be top top top top top

Final result : FAIL.

I was more dissapointed with how boring the demo was than any small differences in the graphics. That, and the terrible excuse for what they're calling damage simulation.

As I have said in my previous posts, with about 5 or 6 HD racing games coming out before Forza 3, the game looks average at best dated at worst. I really see no graphical difference between this, Dirt 2, Shift or Grid. The playability is what is going to separate this title from others, not its graphical prowess (or lack there of).

Well the game looks great, did people expect high quality graphics.

Aion,

Just reread all the Turn10 claim about the quality of their game and how it will dominated everything on the earth

right dude, thats the problem. the grafix are greats, but turn 10 talked TO MUCH and now some people are a little disapoint with what. i was expecting better grafix, but the gameplay is good and with that level of detail is enoug to enjoy the game 100%.

Did Turn 10 really need to comment against fanboy comments on forums??

Obviuosly 360 owners will say it's amazing, and PS fans will say it's not.

They didnt need to worry. The only 2 media impressions written comparing the 2 at TGS09 are saying Forza 3 has better graphics. So they should have just let the fanboys have their say. The majority of naysayers haven't played it anyway.

He's clearly referring to the developer's tendency to over state their case, making it seem the game would be the best thing ever, etc.  That's just setting yourself up for some form of backlash, plain and simple.

Sure, that's not the only driver (pardon the pun) behind the complaints, but it's for sure one of them.

Looks fine to me, BTW.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

No difference between Forza 2 and 3 in graphics? have you played Forza 2 lately? I'm talking in HD . Jeez seriously people need to see an eye doctor.

Yeah I agree. The main improvement in the graphics has gone into the environment. FM2's enviroments looked butt-ugly. The moutains in the background were low resolution sprites and the trackside detail was very poor. I also noticed compression artifacts on some of the sky boxes. All in all it made racing around the tracks very boring. No AA also sucked and made the low poly cars (with no interior) look even worse.

FM3 on the other hand.... The enviroments/tracks are beautiful (far better then any other racing game "too date") and I never get bored of racing the same single track in the demo. The cars also look more realistic (specularity/reflections/texture). Even more so then the Photomode shots Turn10 always provided us. They made the cars look like plastic and the reflections warped. The lighting model is also much better, HDR Lightning, better contrast etc. Darks are no longer too dark and brights are no longer too bright.

I can't say I agree with Turn10 saying the car models from their photomode shots were indeed ingame when they aren't. They're the menu/paint/homespace high res models but TBH I don't give a shit. The car models still look great and you wouldn't notice the difference while in the cockpit view or driving anyway. Everything else is exactly like they promised. You have to love the butter smooth 60fps that never drops to 59 either.

It's a shame the visual damage never evolved much from Forza 2 (Still looks better since the models/textures are better) but they never promised it would.
