FINISHED the game

ONE of the best games of all time.....in fact it ranks at 12 on my top games of all time list now

2nd best game of this gen, it deserves ALL the praise, it deserves any & every sale it gets

Seriously I didn't expect so much from this game, ND went beyond expectations!

its just phenomenol, the ending was funny, the bridge bit was so cool, I love the characters & I WANT Uncharted 3!

UC2>MGS4.......................

Kidding................

It was damn close, but imo the ending part, after you got to shambala was a downpoint in the game

I mean after the FUN ICE CAVE, JEEP CHASE, TRAIN THING, TANK CHASE....then getting to the monastery then shambala, both those bits weren't upto par with the first parts of the game

IF those bits were on par witht he first parts of the game, it could have easily become the 8th or 7th best game ever for me.

But ofcourse I say its the 12th best game ever, but I wanna see how I "remember" this game, there are games which you LOVE for 6 months & then forget the experience.....but I doubt this will be like that as Uncharted 2's story stuck out for me too.

This gen I see only 1 game getting past uncharted 2, its not too hard to guess what that game may be...

How are they going to top uncharted 2? how!

Battles on Airplane Wings?

Alien Artifacts in the Pyramids?

A level in Outer Space with Zero Gravity?

Uncharted: Nathan McDrake and the Alien Mindbenders.  :D

And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

do I have you on PSN?

It fells hort of MGS4 for many reasons, microwave hall being one of them, act 3 final scene being another, general depth of MGS gameplay being one more & story being the final one, not to mention music

What's this VGChartz obsession with the microwave hall? I hated that part, button mashing until your thumbs fall off is NOT fun.

God no! Don't bring aliens into this, look at what they did to Indiana Jones.

true!

but on the other hand, i would love to see a Zak McKracken  Ripoff/Remake with Nathan. Uncharted would be the perfect platform to do this!

hah, the thing is, I think you can get through it even if you only press it at a regular pace... the game's atmosphere is what made you push it so fast.

Ok got my PC back (finally) so I can comment on this game and since I got the Platinum yesterday I think I should.

First of all the first Uncharted was a good game to me, not really worth the $60 but for $30 it's perfect little adventure(it's really overrated around here). It had a lot of problems which I won't go into here but I'm happy that most of those problems were taken out from U2.

Now UC2 the single player is incredible. Not many games can stand and live up to the commercial hype behind them but UC2 is the only one (for me) that matched that. I really can't say enough how well tuned the pacing and the action sequences in the game. Boss battles were the only disappointing thing about the game really but that's because of the limitations of the Uncharted universe I think. Nepal and the Tibet village were my favorite levels, really awesome and action packed with a lot of ways to take any situation, fight on the ground, take a vantage point on the roof, use stealth. The first game felt like a lot of arena fight where you just hide behind one cover and take down those bullet sponges but in UC2 there are a couple of options to take tackle the situation which makes it more rewarding and replayble.

For the online how ever, yeah it's the weak link of the game no doubt. My problems with the online are:

- It's third person: while it's not actually UC's fault but I've always preferred FPS online to TPSs. It's just more engaging, faster and action packed with better controls.

- About the controls, while the work perfectly %90 of the time but there are those time when you want to roll but instead he take cover or vise versa. It just totally ruin what good streak and momentum you had going on.

- The weapon pick up system: Oh hell I hate this. I really do this system would die in a fire. Weapon pick system sucks for online always have and always will be since everybody is rushing for that over powered unbalanced weapon. I just like to customize my class and choose weapons that I'm really good at to even out the playing field instead of depending on luck to get the grenade launcher first.

- The perk system: while it's broken by itself (it's pretty much the same as COD's) it become useless with the weapon pick up system since you don't know what weapons you're gonna get and therefor don't know what perks to choose.

That's pretty much is my beef with the MP. I know it seems I come on hard on it but it's still fun to play. I'm rank 25 or something I don't think I'll be playing much more of it in the future. There is no worthwhile perks or upgrades as I see it but I'll still have a match ever now and then.

I said that Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was only worth $30 for but UC2 is easily worth $60 for the single player alone it really great and it's only second to Demon's Souls for best game this gen.

*Sorry for long post

I finished the game last night and I liked it, it’s better than the first game, but:

Pros

  • Grenade controls were greatly improved, THANK YOU!
  • Fun story that doesn’t let up one bit the whole way through
  • Shooting and platforming is a lot of fun
  • Awesome set pieces like the building falling or the train
  • The game looks incredible, probably the best game out right now.
  • Fight layout is much better
  • While stealth is easy to break, it’s a nice addition
  • Melee is much better this time around
  • I love that you don’t just walk into an area and 20 enemies appear, because of stealth you can now choose how the encounter starts

Cons

  • Guardians were stupid.  They take so much damage to kill and you don’t even know if you’re hurting them.  The only time I wasn’t confused if I was doing the right thing was when I had the portable gatlin gun.
  • Every encounter with multiple guardians sucked.  The worst was the one where three of them with grenades come out and rape you constantly.  If I didn’t know that was the next to last chapter I would have quit right there.
  • The final boss sucked, it was just too long.  They could have shortened by half and it probably would have been fun.  Also, the tracking grenades are stupid.  I could take the most random squirreliest path and a grenade would still end up at my foot.
  • The whole last chapter before the boss was just a giant let down.
  • There were many times in the game where I just didn’t see the path I was supposed to take and just kind of wandered around jumping on everything until I found what I was supposed to find.
  • This is a problem I had with the first game in that since the game has the system where you automatically make jumps, you don’t have a good gauge on what jumps you can and can’t make.  I died countless times because something looks like a jump I’ve made before but since that was where I wasn’t supposed to go I just died.  There was one instance where I dropped down into a building like 6 feet and died.  Bullshit.
  • Getting in and out of cover was still a little wonky
  • Camera many times would be annoying
  • Sometimes jumping from one handhold to another handhold was just hard.
  • Puzzles were again a let down.  They aren’t really a puzzle since the game painfully pushes the answer in your face and if you for some reason take your time it just flat out tells you the answer.  Why are they even there?  They only hurt the great pacing.
  • In general, all bosses were just bad (train guy, helicopters, guardians, last boss)
  • Picking up weapons-- fuck you whoever implemented this.  I don't know how many times I died because what started out me trying to pick up ammo turns into standing there juggling guns because a shotgun and a micromachine gun both happened to land right by it.

The main issues I had with the game was just fighting with the controls, camera, and figuring out where to go next which is sadly the same issues I had with the first one (though I got lost MUCH more in this one).  It’s a shame because there’s so much good to this game that they didn’t fix those things.

The end of the game just wasn’t that great sadly.  I was pretty excited to play through the first Uncharted several times in order to try and get the platinum, I don’t know if I ever want to play Uncharted 2 single player again.

Still though, I would probably give this game a 9.0 while the first one I gave an 8.9 to.  I'd initially put this game around a 9.2-9.4, but the ending was just a let down and the fact I never want to play through it again really brought that score down.

-edit-

And I thought about it for a minute, I think the worst offender of the not-obvious thing award had to have been the part where you hang off a sign to shoot the boards off a door and then enemies flow in and you fight them while hanging off the sign.

So Chloe tells me to get the boards off the other side of the door.  I look around the area and I see a clear path I can take to get other there so I jump on the sign and then I try to jump onto the destination...except I can't get off the sign.

I sit there and mess around on that sign until the game eventually just tells me to shoot the boards from the sign.  That is the fucking dumbest things I've ever seen in a game.  You don't just randomly change the rules so you can set up the next encounter.  If you want me on the sign, fine, but don't put it in a place where I should be able to jump right to where I think I'm supposed to be going and don't make it low enough so that I should be able to drop on the ground.

There's no reason to make that so I dick around for a 5 minutes thinking the game was glitched.  I was actually getting up to reset the console when the hint prompt came up.

Just found this awesome review on newegg:

not that good

Pros: well, I'm disappointed but the case and cover art work is nice. graphics look cool...

Cons: just really weird game. I feel really uncomfortable playing this game. maybe it's the Nathan drake guy, he just comes off really girl like at times. this game is really unenjoyable and I prefer gears of war... now that game is gewd!!

Other Thoughts: Skip this, Get Gears of War!!!
