They have been working on this since 2005 and they only got an engine working?

I will still stick with my bet that FFXIII will get a higher meta-rating than this game. Even though Nomura is behind this project.
Can'twait to see where they are actually going with the Versus XIII project. Three years, and we don't know anything yet. This game is never going to come out.
but seriously though, when it does, IT WILL BE MASSIVE!
They'll probably need atleast 5 years to make a good enough gameplay video. The expect atleast 20 years before the actual game comes out...
If you fail to show decent gameplay footage after 3 years then maybe you should've waited with the announcement...Like, when FFXIII has been released and everyone wants more (FFXIII will probably be a success) then they could announce this game with some good videos and people would go "yaaaayyyy".

Reading comprehension ftw. The presentation quality of the TRAILER is abysmal, given that they used off screen camera shots of a dev station instead of real time footage. They made no comment about the quality of game itself, aside from mentioning that it is obviously far from being finished.

As in unfinished or low quality.
Anyways, is this the suprise that nomura was on about?

oh i see thank you!.
They probably needed a lot of people to shift focus on FFXIII in order finish it in time for the release date. Recently they added that they've improved their development techniques meaning any future FF games would be completed much faster.
That being said after FF13 is released they will all most likely move onto FF13vs. They also won't need to worry about X360 version. I can see a 2010 holiday release in Japan and March 2011 in NA.
I agree with everyone that said that they wouldn't want to steal any press from FFXIII
I bet that its in farther development then what the trailer showed them. It was more of proof that the game was still in development.
I'm sure more info on this and Agito (Haersis too? Nah, wishful thinking...) once the NA/EU launch of FF13 comes around.
