I liked the first two Star Ocean games and even bought the remakes on the PSP. I bought Star Ocean 4 on the 360 and was incredibly disappointed. Everything about the game except for maybe the battle system was nothing but crap. Crap characters, crap plot, crap writing, crap dialog, crap graphics, crap music, crap everything. And one of the worst "little JRPG kid" characters ever.

To people saying crap plot: Is it because you lacked imagination and thought that everything that was related to black holes and stuff didn't make sense? Because to me, it made as much sense as everything that was presented in Mass Effect, which is good for science nerds like me.

Sure, the characters could have been better, but they have Bacchus that makes up for everyone else. A fricking green robot that takes up the whole screen with his moves near the end of the game! o_O

The story was crap... VS Number 3 on PS2, it was good but i was expecting an EPIC twist like with SO3, but it was all "I can see that coming without a doubt" kinda...

It wasn't bad in a sense that it just plain sucked, it was merely cliched, and wtf? Arumat is the Sephiroth of SO4!!!

Frightfully overpowered teenagers with special powers get caught up in an intergalactic plot to save the word, and fight, what they believe, to be an inexplicable evil. Only at the end do they realize that the villian was doing what they thought would benefit humanity. Who was truly doing what was "good"?

It's been done so many times that in order for me to be able to accept and enjoy a plot that goes in this direction, it has to be done really, really well.

Correct, its been done many times before, which is kinda lame since Tri-Ace is normally very, very original with there games.

I blame Square.

When you put it that way, it was very cliched for sure. But I love spaceships and the thought of discovering new planets and everything... At least that was done right.

Well you have to "let down" when your new game in the SO series was bought by less than half of the people that got the previous one

maybe PS360 combined sales will make him happy

That reminds me. I should go back and finish up the last of those battle trophies. I only have like 12 left, all of the 4d exclusive trophies for the bonus bossess. Don't even get me started on some of the more ridiculous ones though. I spent 8+ hours before I got that stupid 77777 damage trophy.
