Incredible numbers, for both Wii and X360. The X360 gets a huge 70-80% boost from last month (which in turn was up well over by 100%), and Wii stays similar + the 5 week bonus.

NHL does really well on X360. I'm suprised it outsold the PS2 version, and was the #2 game for the month.

Glad to see that Canada is supporting the 360 and as usual Nintendo did pretty good numbers. Also I'm really happy to see the sales of NHL 08. Its a great game and you should check it out if your a hockey fan.

Crazy thing is, if NPD USA mimics the typical US hardware (ie, US is 10x Can #s) that means that Xbox 360 numbers will just shy of 600k for the month, and the Wii will get just short of 490k.

Except Canadian buying patterns aren't exactly like the US.  For example the Wii was outselling the DS most of the year here.  Also, if you just increase everything 10x, then NHL08 is the second greatest selling game of the month, which obviously, won't be true either. Too bad, hockey rules.

Canada typically heavily favours Nintendo over Microsoft/Sony in comparison to the US numbers but I think we're going to see the opposite trend this month ...

The combination of Bioshock, Halo 3 and NHL 2008/2K8 (along with the much more reasonable price drop a while ago) makes me think that the XBox 360 will have been picked up by a lot of people who have postponed it for awhile.

Game, I said US hardware, not software. Software is an entirely different ballpark.

Typically, Canada does favor Nintendo, neutral to Sony, and negative to X360. However, Microsoft dropped the price $50CAN extra to compensate for the differing rate for the USD, which turned the X360 to more akin to 10% last month.

Very impressive numbers for Xbox 360, it seems that Halo 3 and the price cut really did wonders in Canada. Interesting to see the Legendary Edition outselling the Collectors Edition of Halo 3.

@MrStickball: 10 times 51.2k is around 510k for XBox 360 and 10 times 42.9k is around 430k for Wii. If the Xbox 360 shows the same percentage increase in the US as in Canada it will be around 500k and if the Wii also shows the same sales pattern of steady sales that would also end up around 500k. It could end up very close in tomorrows NPD US numbers.

when you said 360 numbers 20% higher than wii i was expecting low wii numbers, but actually the wii numbers are quite good, just that the 360 numbers are incredible. They can thank Halo i guess.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Funny thing is, I remember reading a newspaper article last gen where a PR person for MS Canada said Xbox had a higher market share percentage in Canada than in the U.S.  I guess the trend turned around?

I do think Canada is quite pro-Nintendo too.
