Forums - Gaming - Okami for Wii confirmed!, sort of.

What the heck Neos...Okami's an excellent game, and has nothing to do with Zelda.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Dude, how would you even know? You said yourself you never played Okami. They're both 3d action adventure games. You might as well call Banjo Kazooie a Zelda clone.

Well, this might be nice, because I have a (pirate) copy of Okami for the PS2 but there are so many other good games to go through right now that I've just left it apart. If it does come out for the Wii, I'll buy an original copy and play it.

All this this says that okami is confirmed on the wii. It will come out 2008 and its based on the ps2 version and then it talks about the gameplay of okami.

http://www.wiiz.fr/article.php?a=14500

This begins by saying okami didn't find any success on the ps2 eventhough it had invovative gameplay. Then it says that Capcom to make money on the okami investment and to profit from the wii's install base is relasing Okami to the wii. Then it askes who is going to develop the title since clover no longer exists.

Not a direct translation but a summary.

rumor from jeuxactu

don't know if wiiz.fr  is good ...

sorry my english is baaadd

Eh, this thread turned what would be good information into a trollfest.

What do you care about Okami if you're just going to compare it to Zelda. They're two different games.

Okay, trying to bring logic back into this topic:  OKAMI IS NOT A ZELDA SPINOFF.  It is a very similar game that did use similar controls and gameplay elements.  As LotK said, you could probably call it a Zelda take-off.  Does that finish that?

Anyway, if it's budget priced I'll buy it.  They were smart enough to budget price RE4 so I'm guessing they will be smart enough to budget price this as well.  I love Okami and I'm constantly replaying it.  If I had it for the Wii that would put me one step closer to finally packing up my PS2.  I hope they make it more difficult though.  It's too bad Capcom is retarded and destroyed their best (by far) development studio.  Oh well.  Seeds is reportedly working on a Wii game so I should still get to play their great games.

Here is the google translate for each article:

Both are very clear without much uncertainty in them.  It also seems clear that this is a remake, which makes sense considering the death of Clover.

I agree with Neos that it is indeed very much like zelda, but in no way what so ever is that a bad thing. Id say its more of a complement.

If I were ever to describe Okami to anybody Id just say it was like Zelda.

Put it this way, take out the dog character ( i forget his name. begins with an A I think) and put in link and nobody would be none the wiser.
