Let me ask this quick question, for those that say it's just merely a normal "down period" for hardware sales in general, and the Wii is following that pattern:
If this is the case, then why the following:
Nintendo DS: 141,562 avg, 80,000 current (down 44%)
Playstation Portable: 49,811 avg, 69,000 current (up 40.5%)
Playstation 2: 16,102 avg, 12,000 current (down 25%)
Playstation 3: 19,075 avg, 12,000 current (down 37%)
Xbox 360: 4,305 avg, 4,000 current (down 7%)
Nintendo Wii: 68,341 avg, 21,500 current (down 69%)
So exactly why is it that the PS2, PS3 and X360 can average 20-30% down on average, the mighty DS go down 45%, but the Wii is only following pattern, when it's down TWICE AS MUCH AS ANY OTHER CONSOLE ON MARKET.
It's not entirely cash: if people were money-strapped, the PS3 would be vastly worse off, and the PSP Slim (which is the most expensive handheld) would of died.
Maybe it's something else. Maybe people don't want to buy a system that has no games of real value maybe? Maybe thats why attach rates are so low for a system that has 3 games that do 50% of it's software sales.
I'm not saying Wii is doomed, but lets face facts: it's been tanking for the past 3-4 weeks. Yes, the markets down, but the Wii is well below EVERY other system.
