....How in the Hell much did FFXII cost at launch?

And Khuutra wins. All FFs have been released for much more than standard game prices. FFXIII is not outstanding in its price

Japan probably won't care. Wii Fit was about the same price, and Japan ate that up.

But Wii Fit came with a peripheral.

FF13 cost was over 40 $ million.

A games development cost doesn't matter to the avg consumer.  They just care about their wallet.  If a game costs $90 (or the equivilant), some people are going to think twice about buying it, unless they REALLY want it.  This is another reason handheld games are doing 5-10x more business in Japan.

Or they won't think twice, because all big Final Fantasy titles have costed this much or more. I believe FFVI was over 10,000 yen.

How could FFVI have been that much?  It was over 12 years ago.

Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games have always costed a crazy amount of money.

Ah, I looked it up and I was wrong. FFVI was only 7000 yen at launch in 1994.

It seems it was one of the Dragon Quest titles that was over 10,000 yen.

I also found that Final Fantasy X retailed for 8800 Yen. This isn't out of the ordinary.

I remember when that came out.

In gamepro it was like 120$ or something

The price really isn't an aberration. Games cost more in Europe and other PAL territories, the $60 price tag may seem like a lot but a lot of other countries pay upwards $100 for a game. I know my friend from Australia basically imports all his games because the price ends up being cheaper than going to his local store.

He is a cool dood. Prinny.
