If they port Shenmue 1, I just hope to god they avoid the horrible English dub.
Ryo's incessant remarks, "Do you remember ... that day?", really got on my nerves.

If a deal like this actually became official, I would be very happy.

Are you suggesting that SEGA hasn't made any PS3 games?

I've thought for a while that the likelihood of this happening would increase tenfold were Sega to be bought out by one of the big-hitters. There were rumours of a Microsoft take-over not so long ago, which just screamed "Shenmue!" to me. Sega's back catalogue would be worth millions in remakes, so I still don't see such a move as an impossibility. Sure, it would cost a pretty penny and some ugly dollars, but I think it would be quite a coup, especially as Sega themselves have let quality control slip immeasurably since the DC days. Exclusive downloadable classics. Carte blanche to resurrect what they want, when they want, be it in-house at Sega or farmed out to a first party developer, and crucially, deep enough pockets to fund a quality sequel to Shenmue should they so wish.
The last thing I want to see is a ropey Shenmue III, so if it's not done properly, I don't even want to entertain the thought. All signs point to Bayonetta being superb, but excluding this one amazing game, Sega's titles haven't exactly set the world alight of late.

He is still at sega.
If you are going by that moron former SOA president Simon he never knew jack shit what NOJ was doing and said he didn't know Yu was still employed with sega. Yu has just taken a more quiet role there, what has happened to him is he is being treated like Milton in office space ot Gunpie Yokio(sp?) after the failure of Virtual Boy..they put him in the corner and do almost nothing..just GY got smart and quit Nintendo. Yu just doesn't have it in him to quit and start his own company.
========================================================= As for Shenmue. My fave games ever. My god I love this series. I have given up on the 3rd ever coming,it was an over ambitous series that failed but we still got 2 great games that even to this day did so many things that even modern games don't take this much care and detailed. |
Yes,he is still at SEGA,but never work as game producer any more.I’ve forgotten what’s his position now,but surely he was be retired.
From last gen to now there are many rumors about Shenmue 3 every year, especially before some game expos, but never come ture.
