If EA tried to restrict sales to a single console (its own), I would imagine its sports contracts would disappear.

And as I said. They could easily get through this by making the other console's versions really gimped.

 

Or they just wait till 2012 when the license expires( I doubt that they will get it back). And release their console in line or a little before the other consoles.

Do you really think the NFL's lawyers would let them get away with that?

EA and the NFL signed a five year deal in 2004, then signed a three year extension to that deal in 2008.  What makes you think they won't extend the deal again?

The reason that I don't think that they will extend the deal is because ESPN is owned by Disney. And now since Disney has a good game division I do not see why they wouldn't just keep the license in house now.
