And Peter 1:20 was "prophets," not a persons beliefs from an article I read about it. Of course then again *gasp* that's my own interpretation, so whatever. Also, I don't see people out there protesting divorce nearly as much as people protest homosexuals. I'm sorry but I see more christians get divorced then I see gay couples wanting to get married. If marriage is so sacred, why are so many people trying so hard to get away from it. |
Read Peter 1:20 again. He's talking about scripture and not prophets.
As for your argument about protesting divorce. I totally agree that this is unacceptable that we vilify homosexuality and turn a blind eye to divorce. The church has a very hypocritical stance of divorce and homosexuality. I hold neither to be above the other in terms of their violation against the moral teachings of the Bible. Unfortunately, some Christians believe one is worse than the other, which is not the case.
I don't believe it's an issue of 'If marriage is so sacred, why are people getting away from it' as much as it is the fact that Christians aren't acting like Christians in praxis. In fact, the divorce rate among so-called Christians is higher than non-Christians. Crazy, but woefully true. I think marriage is very sacred, and the Bible holds it to be the 2nd most sacred bond other than that between a person and God. However, that doesn't mean that people abide by such rules. After all, the Catholic Church tortured and maimed millions of people in the crusades and inquisition - That didn't make it right, did it?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
