Forums - Gaming - When did you realize that games could acutally be bad?

I actually thought Legend of Kyrandia was decent. Also when you mention Legend of Kain are you talking about Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain because that was pretty good, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was decent as well.

One of the first bad games I played that really stood out was Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes of the Lance. I was a big Dragonlance fan so I couldn't wait for the game to come out (I waited eagerly in anticipation for months). When I finally got the game home and started playing I got upset at how bad it was and actually said "What is this shit?!?". It was a pretty big letdown.

Another would have to be Ghostbusters 2. I really enjoyed the first Ghostbusters game and was extremely disappointed by the second game that was just complete crap, I was also disappointed by the second Ghostbusters movie as well.

I think the reason I Legend of Kyrandia sticks out in my head is because I could never play more than the first chapter or so because the game always crashed. I'll just replace it with Heretic. As for Legacy of Kain, I think it was Blood Omen and I just didn't like the game. My parents got it for me for Christmas and I just hated it.

I never played Ghostbusters II, but I remember playing Ghostbusters on the NES and loved it even though I didn't know what was going on. I played that game a few months ago and that game is one of the biggest piles of crap I've ever played.

The only fantasy book game I got to play as a kid was one of the Deathgate games.  It was cool but I'm sure if I played it today it would suck.  I actually loved Dragonlance too though I'm sure if my parents ever figured out it was based on DnD they would have burned those books.  I still remember the day they found out my sister played DnD, they almost disowned her.  If only they knew I got my job partly because of DnD.  :-p

This is the reason why games like Spider-man 3 and Transformers sell as hell.

In my perception back then everything with "Seal of Quality" was good games, and the pirated ones in different colors were bad ones. Of course I was a victim to Nintendos marketing strategy, but I , still in this day, feel that games like "Bible Adventures" suck ridiculously hard.

Beware, I live!
I am Sinistar!
Beware, coward!
I hunger!
Roaaaaaaaaaar!

At least 62 million Wii sold by the end of 09 or my mario avatar will get sad

+1 for you.

Time to Work !

@mikey:

I LOVED Pepsiman! I always thought it a shame that the game never saw NA release. That fat guy with the Engrish was clearly awesome. "PEPSI FOR TV GAME!"

As for the topic itself, the first time I remember thinking "Man this game sucks" was playing Dragon Power for the NES, which I believe was a bastardized version of an early Dragon Ball game.

Hates Nomura.

A boy and his blob. But that probably wasn't the games fault. I just couldn't figure out some of the puzzles.

=( i liked a boy and his blob...

The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants was just awful

Games i'm currently playing:

A PC game called "MAD TV"
The game was orginally in German and console, but it was ported to PC and was translated to English
The version i had was imported by Taiwan Distributor, it contains a Chinese Game Manual

it's TV station management game
you job is program TV shows and movies daily, trick terroist to bomb your opponent' office and get your favourite girl on bed

the game itself is incredibly funny but there is a fatal bug
the length of some movies are "0 hours"
if you program any "0 hours" movie in your schedule, the game crashed

i understand most pc games contains bugs, but they did shamelessly mention this bug in the Game manual
it says something like
"You may find that the length of some movies are 0 hours, as you know, it's not logical. So dont program those movies, or you will got a problem"

They know the games contains a fatal bug and they dont bother fix it, that the first time i felt game publishers/distributors can be very irrespondisble
and games can be sucks

Why so much hate for the D&D (Dungeons & Dragons, I presume?)
