Actually those vids didn't do much justice to what you said. There are some parameters that you can compare between both the ingame vid and the Ferrari vid that are pratically the same, the global lightning, the hood reflections, the road textures, the car geometry and others more.
I never said that the Forza 3 vid is CGI, i believe that the quality of Forza 3 will be just like what the vid showed us, and hopefully the demo that's almost releasing will show us just that. But that doesn't take out the fact that GT is also showing some serious graphical horsepower as well.
Hopefully we will see more gameplay vids in TGS, and i sincerely believe that there will be graphical improvements over the Gamescon video, because they had a few more months to touch up the ingame engine. Also remember that while Forza 3 is almost at it's release deadline, so we know that what is being shown now it's the final build of the game, GT has a few more months to improve even more.
As much as I would like people just to accept that both games can co-exist, I know that it will never be possible. Both games have their strengths and their weaknesses, I for myself tend more to the GT side, but that doesn't mean that i will go and bad mouth Forza, because it will be a great game as well.
The same goes for the people that bad mouth Forza, even though some of them are doing it because of the arrogance which was shown by the developers towards the GT series, that's no excuse to badmouth a game that you haven't yet played
