Forums - Sony - SEGA leaks Sony's plans for PS2 and Dreamcast emulation on PS3

Well, yeah... I've like SEGA, and Sony... I've had a Genesis (4 of them, 2 working), Saturn, a PSX, a Dreamcast (4 of them, 2 working) and PS2 (2 of them).  Back in those days, I was young, I didn't hate any console based specifically on who made it.  I didn't hate Super Nintendo, it was something different to me, that I played every once in a while when I visited my counsin, and she had power rangers, and I loved power rangers back then, so that made it so much better... And, honestly, after my Genesises kept breaking, I was getting tired of getting the same system all the time.  I wanted something different.  Never happened, but, if I'd gotten a SNES instead of a Genesis, I would have been very happy.

I'd owned the Saturn... I'm not sure if I'd owned it at the same time as the PSX, or not, but, for timeframe's sake, I had Jumping Flash 1, and 2.  I also had virtua cop, and virtua fighter on saturn.  Again, I didn't hate either one.  If anything, I do remember not liking the L, R shoulder buttons because they were so hard to push with my little hands.

I've just gown up with both, and I liked them both.  360 is the only console for me to ever own that I truly hate.

But, yeah, I'm aware that sony does have some reason for what happened to sega.  Do I care?  No, I don't own SEGA, why should I care?  If they go out of business one day... bye-bye, sega, it was fun.  But, hating a console based on who designed it is pretty stupid.  If you love sega so much, you can either continue to buy only the systems they've made, which are all 10 years and older, or, you can do like SEGA, and get friendly with Sony.

Think of this as Sony apologizing for screwing sega up if you're going to put so much thought and hatred into it.

How ironic that Sega choses a Sony platform to emulate the Dreamcast. I am not pleased.

Why not?

because hype for a Sony console was one of the reasons that the dreamcast died

The Dreamcast died because it came out way too early and suffered from design flaws.

Businesses are so friendly to each other. I hear when they reach their goal, they donate to their competitors to help them out too!

Sad day in the history of Sega if they jump in bed with the "corporation" that BOUGHT their way to the top and in the process caused the demise of Sega as a Hardware developer.

Very sad day indeed.

Joystiq.com was also talking about this. They currently have 2 articles up talking about a meeting between Sega and Sony America.

Playstation Home spaces for all Sega properies.

Dreamcast and PS2 on the PSN Store.

What if this is an early look at Sony buying Sega?

A division that is currently losing money buying up a new company that does not consistently post profits? Yea, not going to happen.

That is true. Sony Computer Entertainment has lost money the past 2 years. Seeing a slight profit coming out of the last quarter of their previous FY and Sony as a whole lost money last year, but this would be a move that would benefit Sony and stockholders.

Getting Sega's properies exclusive to Playstation platforms.

And besides Sega isn't in as bad a shape as they have been in the past few years. Valkyria Chronicles sold decently. Phantasy Star Portable has sold very well and is getting a sequel.

This move by putting the Dreamcast games on the Playstation platforms would bring in some money for both Sony and Sega.

I'm talking about the ORIGIONAL "Corporation" moneyhatting company who took out one TRUE gaming Legend (Sega) and nearly took out another TRUE gaming Legend (Nintendo)

Now wait a minute. Sega was in terrible shape going into the Dreamcast. It was a fun console, but Sega's management was terrible.

The Japanese and American divisions were always fighting. The system might have survived had they been on the same page, but they weren't.

Bad decisions with the 32X, Saturn, Nomad and Dreamcast led them to a weak end.

They trying to support the Genesis til 1998. At the same time of having multiple systems on the market. They had no real leadership and lost sight of where to go.

I can't agree with it being sad when this is doing more for gamers. It's getting Sega's games in more homes and opening up all new possibilities. I know you have a deep passion for Sega, but this is going to make many gamers happy, and not just Sony/Sega fans. I can't see how that's a negative.

Very HAPPY day indeed.

I'm sure lots of people are happy CGI buddy, but i am not one of them, what also annoys me is the amount of people in here who say somthing like "Cool, i never had a Dreamcast before"

If these "I never had a Dreamcast before" people were not there to support Sega back then, they shouldn't get the cream of Sega's games now.

Exactly, they were never cut out to make hardware.

If the Dreamcast had lived it would've had no 3rd party support as the game disks were too small and the controller didn't have enough buttons.
