I know there are other brits on here, so come on, lets talk politics, who are you thinking of voting for next year?

my views are centre left, but there is no centre left party, so im voting Green probably, unless any of you know of a centre left party here? (I sure as hell don't)

Seriously what is the point in voting? This country is going to the dogs.

@kowenicki - i'd rather waste my vote than vote for a bunch of right wing toss fucks any day

@Secce - if you don't vote, you make it easier for the scum parties to get in

Huh? If only there was a way for the public of this country to "elect" a leader if you will, one that the public think will improve the country. But sadly I know of no political system that operates in this way...

@scifi

nice and considered political debate there...

did you know its a fact that almost everyone moves away from the left politically the older they get.... you know why... the left is full of well meaning but unworkable nonsense.

and the "scum" parties are?

1. I don't consider my views "unworkable"

2. scum parties: Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrats

dont know how to break this to you... unfortunatekly you will never live under anything other than a scum party then..

when did you get the ability to predict the future?

I'm going for the lesser of three evils, the, er... Liberal Democrats?

at this point, the Liberal part of there name is really quite redundant don't you think?

@kowenicki - I don't think that its impossible for a 4th party to be a contender at some point in the future, also, if more people vote for a 4th party like the Greens, then it might get one of the other 3 to actually adopt some better Liberal policy's

@scifiboys

and the "better" liberal policies are?

here's a few you can start with:

pull out of the war
abolish tuition fees
proportional representation
proggressive taxation
more funding for the NHS/Education system
abolish faith schools
legalise less dangerous drugs
close tax loopholes
better public transport (trains, buses, etc)
abolish the monarchy
make the lords elected (if not fully, then atleast like 75%)
proper action on climate change (more renewable energy, no nuclear either, its not safe or viable from what ive read, we probably dont need nuclear weapons either, so they can go too)

here's a few you can start with:

pull out of the war      pacifist or just the afghan situation? afghanistan mainly atm, im not aware of others
abolish tuition fees      dont agree good for you, i believe in having an education system thats free (i.e state funded) from nursery to uni
proportional representation      dont agree you dont want your vote to be more effective?
proggressive taxation        elaborate a system that is more redistributive than our current one
more funding for the NHS/Education system      more cash wont make any difference, new thinking required true, but idk if we agree on what sort of thinking
abolish faith schools       agree good!
legalise less dangerous drugs      disagree why? from what i understand, many are less harmfull than alcohol or smoking
close tax loopholes        such as? idk the specifics, but they get mentioned alot on tv and in the paper
better public transport (trains, buses, etc)       whats the motivation here? what do you think? less pollution i would hope
abolish the monarchy          whats the motivation here?  (its just a symbolic act and will make no difference) there pointless and a waste of money, plus if we call ourselves a democracy, they need to go
make the lords elected (if not fully, then atleast like 75%)        somewhat agree somewhat?
proper action on climate change (more renewable energy, no nuclear either, its not safe or viable from what ive read, we probably dont need nuclear weapons either, so they can go too)      nuclear energy is our only way out, pissing about with other stuff will take too long.. we dont have that time, keep nuclear weapons. wrong, from what ive read, nuclear energy is impossible to dispose of the waste and is less not more viable than other things, why do we need nukes where our allies like the US have them? worst comes to worst, we just ask for there help, though i think its unlikely we would need too

there you go... my view on your views. my responses in italics
