If you truly want a PS3, and you truly want to play the games on it, and you have the initiative, something as menial as loss of PS2 backwards compatibility will not deter you. |
It's not menial though. The 40 gig actually will be more expensive if i have to replace my PS2 twice in my lifetime. Which is a fairly likely chance. Since i've already replaced my PS2 twice.
Also, i'm the type of person that will be playing my PS2 till I either go blind, die, lose an arm... you get the point. I'm someone who plays videogames. I could probably buy a second PS3 with the money i'd "save" in not rebuying the PS2 6-7 more times over my lifetime. Hopefully they keep a backwords compatable model out there, I tend to buy systems whenever I have a software drought, considering i just got 6 new games, and there are about 6-10 more Wii games I want that are coming out before X-mas or are already out I wouldn't have a reason to buy one anyway.
If the 40 gig did have BC i would of just got one with the money i got for X-mas or ask my parents for it, as they still like to spend ridiculious amounts of money at X-mas on me even though I'm well past that age... having graduated college and all. Instead i'll just ask for a butload of PS2 games. (No Wii games because my girlfriend wants to buy me wii games and we try to "surprise" each other with gifts. No gift lists, because the surprise is better and also just knowing someone knows exactly what to get you rules.)
