Sure. If it cuts it's price to one dollar, it will happen easily.

No, price isn't the issue, even at $1 it would miss it if they didn't have enough stock, and at $200 or $250 they could get it if they have enough stock

I don't know about that.  I see Wiis on the shelves now.

It's not impossible to find like it once was.

Yes which is probably why they'll be able to do it, they have the stock, it isn't pricing that is affecting Wii, if it was, Wii sales would have been affected by the PS3 and 360 cuts, it wasn't, its the lack of games that has affected Wii, but Wii is getting NSMB and Wii Fit plus this fall, its sales will go back up.

I am not saying that the sales of the Wii are being affected by the price.  I am just saying that the sales would be much, much better if it cost 1 dollar.

I'd buy a few for friends this Christmas if it sold at this price.  At $249.99 or even $199.99 I am not buying a few Wiis this year.

Its okay, other people will be buying them, even if they are at $249 or $199, sales wouldn't be any better at $1 since once you are out, you're out, whether or not there is demand, you can only sell what you have, so why would Nintendo sacrifice profits when they'll sell out either way?

I agree that Nintendo wouldn't want to sacrifice profits.  I'm just saying that more systems would be sold at the price point of one dollar, which would definitely push the Wii over 50% at the end of the year.  As things stand, I do not see this happening by the end of this year.  The PS3 price cut hasn't hurt the Wii, but it has definitely helped Sony.

o you can't sell more consoles than you make, regardless of price, so selling it at $1 wouldn't help

But they aren't selling all of their consoles.  There are Wiis on the shelf.  This is my point.

At the moment yes, but the current moment is not the issue, the next three months+ are

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Supply is not gonna be a problem, Nintendo must have a huge stockpile of Wiis right now (unless they lowered production quickly and dramatically which is not likely, since those production contracts are usually made many months in advance).

I agree, which is why I think they'll make it past 50%

moar good first party games would. The casual audience has been fed quite well recently but the hardcores are the ones slowly starving off. The new zelda announcement sounds great but it's so far away.

more good games= more attraction= more sales

You want to bet your house on that?

wii will not reach 50% in its lifetime

The demand is dying little by little. The Price drop will help, but the Wii was never about price since each holiday it seems to increase in price anyway if you found one.

Increase the price? What are you talking about?

The only price increase there has been was in UK as far as I know, and even then it's doubtful that retailers actually increased the price (eating the difference instead).
