Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's new shooter (that i just made up)

So I was day dreaming today, which ordinarily does not produce anything spectacular (perpetual motion machines/things that will never happen such as if i had a million-billion dollars). However, todays idea seemed pretty cool, but might also not be so spectacular (I guess I'll find out once the flaming commences), but I'm going to share it with you anyway.

I was thinking that the Wii could use a Nintendo developed FPS, because, well we know they would do it right, or at least better. Obviously the first choice would probably be Metroid. Metroid would be pretty cool with a halo-esque online multiplayer. However, I decided to go a different route. So, I thought Starfox. We don't have a Starfox game for Wii yet. Now, I think it would be important to have a traditional Starfox for Wii. So lets just pretend for a minute that Nintendo would make Starfox Wii, the traditional R-wing shooting etc etc game AND my game: Starfox: Dinosaur Hunter.

Starfox: Dinosaur Hunter is a spin off from Starfox Adventures. Imagine Starfox Adventures meets Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. The thing I want to change is the view, from FPS to over-the-shoulder. I think that is important just so you can see the different characters.

Aside from that, I don't want to inflict my imagination on you. So let yours run wild and tell me what you think.

Why FPS? I like the 3rd person one way better. Plus star fox assult had the best muiltiplayer why change it?

They had two FPSs; the greatest FPSs of all time. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

Neither of those games are fully Nintendo owned nor were they developed by a Nintendo team, and I find it very hard to argue them as the best in the genre. Maybe the best console FPS', but if you factor in with what PC has offered I still can't see it.

Hey dude, that's not bad. At least you didn't come up with, let's say, ummm... A Vitality Sensor! Now THAT would be stupid. I'm sure glad nothings in-the-works with that idea. Very glad indeed.

we're not going to see a golden eye or perfect dark on the Wii. im not talking about the past here. im talking about a game to appeal to the FPS crowd, not necessarily to the starfox crowd. take mario for example, obviously Mario Kart is not a platformer like the original mario. take a popular character and give him a new role...just like in Starfox Adventures. obviously nintendo is not afraid to play around with their IPs. All the different Mario games, Starfox Adventures, Metroid Prime, etc etc etc.

Cheap shot at Vitality Sensor. Come on, you know it will sell no matter what we think.

As for the OP, its sounds like your wish for a good shooter on Wii has already been fulfilled with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Star Fox would probably work best by sticking with it's original gameplay.

If anything, Nintendo should create a new IP if they want to make a shooter. It should be somethng less serious and dark to counter a lot of the shooters on Xbox 360 and PS3. I've always thought No One Lives Forever would make a good transition to the Wii. Think about it, a female heroine + 60's spy comedy is great material for the Wii userbase. Monolith probably wouldn't want to make it, but they should.

Still, if Nintendo made an FPS, I'd expect something close to that.

You're right. A Zelda FPS would be amazing...Bow and arrow, hook shot...
