Has Best Buy enought money to do this????

Companies are really stupid to say stuff like this. Whenever stuff like this is talked about the companies(In this case Gamestop) stock skyrockets causing the buyer(BestBuy) to pay more than it was originally.

Seems like they are just saying they want to get into the used game market in a big way.

Because of the incredible margins companies can get by paying pittance for used games and then selling them for $5 less than full new retail copies.

If they made an offer it'd go up anyway, and it's illegal for them to not make such offers public.  If this does anything to GS stock now it's just a nice, easy way of them figuring out what it'd actually cost them to buy GS out.

It seems like GameStop would be too strong for Best Buy to take on. Best Buy would have been hurt more by the recession than GameStop was (and GameStop's second-hand component probably benefited). It just seems like the wrong time for them to be pondering it.

Let's be honest, Gamestop has no real competitors.

Best Buy is all over the place, and if they can convince people to go buy used at that store, the ridiculous prices for used games at Gamestop will surely go down.
