1.R2 has a party system that allows friends and clans to come together before entering a game
- Perhaps, but I don't really play with friends that often (not counting VGchartz Killzone 2 clan people). The party system isn't a big deal to me. Though Killzone 2 has had some additions to allow for that even if it's not as integrated as Resistance 2.
2.R2's players are not bulky like KZ2. They just feel so versatile
- While they're not armed with insanly bulky armor, I like the look of Killzone 2's soldiers more. That also ties into the feeling of weight in Killzone 2 compared to Resistance 2's quick running skinny people
3.Weapons are more varied in R2. I understand KZ2 doesn't want to be too scifi but I prefer R2 because it's more tactical
- Yea, what's there for Killzone 2 works for the setting even if it is a little lacking in the variety department.
4.R2 level up system takes longer to get to the highest rank and plenty more unlockables. I started enjoying KZ2 from getting all the tactician, engineer, medic badges and the rest. But once you get all those, you really don't feel like playing that much anymore.
- I disagree, I'm still playing Killzone 2 while I stopped playing Resistance 2 after a short time.
5. Most people on my friends list that have both games have gone back to playing R2 once they got to the highest level in KZ2. I know they added 3 more levels in KZ2 with the highest being 100000 xp but there's nothing to really unlock.
- Guess my friends have different tastes . The people on my friends list were pretty dissapointed with Resistance 2 and didn't play it for very long and at least one denounced it during the beta after being so excited to play it. Yes, Resistance 2 has more customizable stuff, but unlocking a new canteen to wear doesn't make me any more interested in playing Resistance 2's competitive online.
6. Sniper rifle in R2 is better than KZ2.
- I've enjoyed the movement with the characters and weapons in Killzone 2. The sixaxis implementation on the sniper is pretty cool and there are people that are crazy with it just like every game has their skilled people. Still, not everybody's cup of tea though. I would prefer to be using a keyboard and mouse for games like Resistance 2 for it's quick gameplay and such.
7. You can only switch one weapon in KZ2 whereas , R2 lets u have two weapons u can of choice(u have to pick the second off the ground to switch with magnum)
- Hasn't bothered me, but I guess I do play PC games like Counter-Strike where you can only have one primary and one secondary weapon. Hammerspace that!
8. Search and destroy in KZ2 turns into a huge mess because you have 16 vs 16 trying to disable or activate the the explosives whereas, in R2 u get divided into squads.
- Yea it can get crazy, but that also depends on the settings of the game your in as well as the people in them. I've had times where's it's been one hell of a grand experience defending/attacking while other time it's annoying because of stuff like excessive rocket spamming. However, it's not like my experience in Resistance 2 is much different from what you just described about Killzone 2. Heck, you can say things can get too chaotic in many games, but they can still be quite fun depsite that.
While Resistance 2 tries to spread people out with the new Skirmish mode, it became very annoying to play that mode. It never felt like there was any reason to actually do your objective because your orders would change before you're even near where you were told to go to begin with. I know it was ment to do that, but it's going a little too far when the announcer gives you an objective and you fail it before the announcer is even finished talking. One time there were multiple objectives and each interrupted the previous one mid-announcement.
9. R2's ranked game is more strict because people can't join after about 2 minutes whereas, KZ2 lets people join anytime, making people cheat by letting friends help them get objectives done
- See, I also spend lots of time on the PC and I'm kind of annoyed by R2's matchmaking for ranking up. Most of the time it would take the settings I specified and instead of getting a large game, I'll find myself in a tiny 5 vs 5 game. So when playing a lot of PC games, you get used to stuff like a server list and joining games that way. In Resisance 2 however, none of those games in the game list will be ranked and you're stuck using the matchmaking to get XP. Thus, I'd much prefer Killzone 2 or Warhawk's game list to automatic matchmaking. Even a seperate 'ranked' game list with set settings so that you couldn't get stupid things like "one hit kills".
To be honest, the only thing that kept me interested in Resistance 2's online after a while was the co-op. However, the amount of excessive grinding to level up wasn't worth it. I would literally play level after level and it hardly felt like I was making a dent in level progression.
