Forums - Sales - How Michael Jackson Singstar will boost PS3?

it won 't

This would be amazing. This would be the ultimate family game. Almost everyone in my household--[There's 9 people living in my house. Yes, 9]--would play this a lot. It would also introduce MJ music to generations that never had a chance to hear his music.

I think what Sony should do is release SingStar MJ, obviously exclusive, and advertise the hell out of it. However, if it doesn't sell like they want it to, they should look into putting MJ on another music-game franchise--where it's guranteed to sell like crazy.

Sorry man, because you're a new member and all, but it's really sad if you believe that.

So you're saying that MJ is lying in the video?

Michael is a NOTORIOUS liar and quite horrible at it. It's hard to believe anything that comes out of his mouth.

A notorious liar? Give some examples. (Let me guess, you don't believe he had vitiligo? Do some research or simply ask the police doctor who examined MJ in 1993 and confirmed he had vitiligo but of course the media didn't exactly put that little FACT in the headlines did they?) You think he actually loved Sony then? So why did he dump them and speak out against them? Also I wouldn't be surprised if they're involved in his murder. Yes, I said MURDER as it's becoming more and more apparent that he was in fact murdered. If you want notorious lies just listen to the media, especially when it involves Michael Jackson. (And the government of course, no matter what it involves, lol!)

of course Sony *can* do it, the question is *should* then make it exclusive. Sony as a company isn't doing so well and MJ is a huge name. They should make what they can while they can and a game like this would sell far more on Wii (just look at every music genre game).

They should be worried about maximizing profits, not continuing to fund the PS3 when its just not appropriate.

I agree, I don't see this as pushing many systems, but put it on the Wii (the party system) and the sales would be triple any other system.

I can't take him seriously after watching this

Sony has TV, amplificators, LCD, Plasma, Blu Ray and many others. Sony has Music and movies majors and Sony has, PS2, PS3 and PSP, and Michael Jackson. They no need to put MJ in other hardwares. It will be a storm for PS3, Halo is nothing in front of what is going to happen.

Sony don't have MJ, he left them years ago, all they can do is re-release his old songs over and over again until the rights revert fully to the Jackson estate possibly sometime soon. (I'm not sure exactly how long they have them for, not that long though, a few years at the most. MJ would have had full ownership sooner if it wasn't for a crooked lawyer of his who unbeknownst to MJ was also working against him with Sony.) Just look at the (FAKE!) This Is It album Sony are releasing. I guess they got some kind of publishing rights to the song This Is It when they made the deal for the movie but apart from that and the spoken poem Planet Earth the rest of the album is just old songs in the order they were going to be performed in the concert plus unreleased versions of other old songs. That's why it's fake because MJ's real This Is It album was going to be a whole new album. (Actually he was going to release 2 albums, a regular album and an instrumental album of various styles of music he composed.) Sony can't release the real album though because it's got nothing to do with them. (And I hope the Jackson estate doen't make anymore deals with Sony! They should find another record label or release new and old-but-unreleased music independently.) That's why Sony also hated MJ, this was going to be the first tour, album and everything else without them since they bought Epic back in 1988, yet MJ owned HALF of ALL Sony/ATV's music publishing rights. Now Jackson's estate owns that 50% and you can bet Sony will try anything to get them back. And just incase anyone thinks that's a "notorious lie" read this:

After Jackson's acquisition of ATV Music Publishing, his record label, CBS, were negotiating the sale of their record division in an unrelated deal. Following hurriedly arranged meetings and disagreements over the selling price, a deal was sealed by Jackson during a concert in Tokyo. Upon seeing the success of this sale, Japanese corporation Sony sought to break away from its core business of hardware manufacturing and diversify into music, films and games. Looking for further opportunities, the company aimed to expand its music publishing interests. The Japanese corporation offered Jackson $90 million for 50% of ATV Music Publishing in 1995. Jackson gladly accepted; he had essentially acquired half ownership of the Beatles' songs for a large profit. Jackson's own songs were not included in the deal. Having been merged, the company was renamed Sony/ATV Music Publishing and became the third largest music publisher in the world. Michael P. Schulhof, President and CEO of Sony, welcomed the merger and praised Jackson for his efforts in the venture. "Michael Jackson is not only the most successful entertainer in history; he is also an astute businessman. Michael understands the importance of copyrights and the role they play in the introduction to new technologies." He added that Jackson recognises Sony's "leadership in developing and realizing new technologies that serve to expand the creative horizon of artists such as himself". Administrative expertise was provided by Sony, who installed Paul Russell as chairman. Jackson was a company director and attended board meetings regularly. As each party in the arrangement held the power of veto, both sides would have to agree on a decision before it could be made. If neither party agreed on a decisions, they would not be implemented.

i doubt people will buy a ps3 just for this

This game doesn't exist. Both this and SingStar: U2 were based on a fake French release list that surfaced two months ago. It was shortly thereafter debunked by SCEE. No retailer that I can find has a listing for such a game (just check Amazon UK), and chances are somebody simply uploaded a fake boxart to our game database.

Sorry, but your last comment makes little to no sense, at all. Why should/whould Sony make a game, one that carters for the masses, for the friggin competition????? Do you really think Sony, or Nintendo, or MS WHOULD EVER do that?

And, if Sony is in so much trouble as you think they are, how the heck they can manage a price cut? Even if it was damn straight necessary, they could go making whatever small profit they were making with it before the price cut.

So....making A EXCLUSIVE FOR PLAYSTATION platform with MJ is logical, is maximizing their profits and damn straight saying:

"YOU WANT IT??BUY A PS2/3 TO PLAY IT!!!!!

PS- did you even know Sony is the developer of SingStar???? Thanks Soriku for point that one.

Last edit, I am out.

MJ's music is owned by Sony Music. Therefore Sony Music can hire anyone they want to make a game for it. Having Sony's gaming division make a SingStar game is stupid and limiting the potential revenue it could make from having it made on a different developer's label. That is my point. If you and SORIKU are so retarted you couldn't tell that was my point then ... idk really. It should have been obvious I didn't want Sony to make a Singstar game for Wii360.

Just like Spiderman and other Sony owned Movie IP's, let other's make the game and reap the profits. It should not be limited to PS3 userbase in SingStar.

1.  Don't insult people.  That's a serious no-no.  But this post is days old, so I'll let it slide.

2.  Initially you said Sony is stupid for making "this game", as in an iteration of SingStar, ps3 exclusive.  Of course they'd do that.  It's SingStar.

3.  Now you're saying that Sony shouldn't make MJ exclusive to ps3/SingStar.  If this game actually existed, it would be because the SingStar team sought out the rights to MJ.  Not because Sony Music decided to put MJ into SingStar.  Rock Band, Lips, or whoever could easily go to Sony Music and pay for licensing.  There's a SingStar Queen, but Queen also appears in both Guitar Hero and Rock Band.  There is nothing about this that would make MJ exclusive to ps3.  All it means is that a ps3 exclusive game happens to contain some MJ music (if it even exists)

You're getting riled up over nothing.
