Forums - Sony - Blu-ray Players are overtaking DVD players....basically BD is taking over

A nice little read from HMM. It is obvious that Blu-ray is the current and future king of optical home entertainment media. However, Blu-ray's emergence into the homes of everyday people is happening sooner rather than later. I see evidence of this every time I go into Blockbuster or Best Buy. Do you guys thing that FINALLY those very few remaining Trolls will be silenced? No, don't think so.  Anyway, an analyst from FutureSource Consulting gives some current information about the movie market:

"...He said the fact that Blu-ray hardware sales are fast overtaking DVD hardware sales (with DVD projected at 53% and Blu-ray at 47% for 2009) is good news for future 3D-on-Blu-ray ventures, especially because “at the moment consumers can only get the full benefit [of 3D] in the theater.”

i hope this means the the prices of Blu-rays will come down now.
seriously $29.99 is way to much for a standard Blu-ray...

the Planet Earth blu-ray collection i got for Christmas last year.... well i am in love

hello how are you.

Good. Hopefully the price goes down so I can add to my somewhat small collection.

love blu-rays
but price is to high! come on £12 a movie is a fair price! i went to buy Monsters Inc and it was £27! no way lol £15 is to much for a movie these days. we are so used to picking up films for £10 now that for a blu ray £12 would be a really good price

I hope blu ray movie prices go down as well.. if not the PSN store or on demand it is for me

Well considering most people have a DVD player now anyway, i'm assuming that when someones DVD player breaks they are going to decide blu ray is the way to go, hence the practical tie in hardware.

DVD movies still destroy blu ray movies in sales, but as more DVD players break over time (i'm not even joking on this) more people will upgrade to blu ray.

I'm eyeing that too >.< It's around 60 bucks on Amazon I think.

I only saw a few episode, but loved them (I loved the little bit with the fungus and ant)

that's right, the high prices of bd's has to drop so more people will adopt that format.
