Heres a question. How are you meant to sell a product when the stores that sell your product dont want to stock it because your admitting once it sells you will take away all there business?

Sony- HAHA! TAKE THAT GAME SELLERS....wait...can you please stock the system so I can eventually take all business away from you? Hello game sellers? *knock knock* anyone there?

yeah i'm actually surprised any store is going to stock the go to be serious

It only really hurts the used game retailers.

Stores that sell electronic devices, like the iPod, will still carry it, thanks to the pricetag and profit margin.  In other words, stores like Target, Best Buy, Walmart, etc... any place that doesn't do used games.  Used game retailers, like GameStop, and a lot of smaller retailers, are the ones who really dislike it -- hence the reports you hear from said retailers about how much they dislike it, and how its "almost dead" etc.

Industries move on.  Big retailers deal with it.  The little ones, who have thrived on the resale value of the industry's products, are the ones who will have to change their business model to survive, if DD takes off.

I'm not sure why they aren't bright enough to work out a deal with Sony and the 3rd party publishers to sell "coupon codes" for DD at their stores, and get a somewhat proportional cut of DD game profits, based on the number of hardware units they've sold over the product's lifetime.  They are retail *partners* after all -- they just aren't acting like it.

Around the Network

I don't think DD will take off, not for a long while, we already know Nintendo won't be going DD only next gen, and they are the market leader, and most customers won't be interested in DD only, customers like physical media and they like to be able to buy used, in fact the rush to DD only will likely cause more problems for these companies, because most consumers will avoid those products

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Avinash, you're wrong on a number of accounts.

First, not everyone likes physical media, especially when it comes to portable devices. My iPhone is slowly starting to replace my DS because I can take all the games I want anywhere I go. It's simply MORE portable, and the PSP Go will be too. Just because you want physical media doesn't mean that I do.

Also, I don't really care to buy used, at least from stores, because Gamestop and the like are complete rip-offs. If I don't like it, plenty of others don't as well. Some may even abhor the process altogether. People like to know no one else has owned a thing and that it's going to be in great condition. When I buy a game new it works, while on the other hand I've had to return a number of damaged used games to Gamestop. Once I returned the same game multiple times, even, and never managed to find a copy that worked.

Also, market leadership is not a guaranteed thing. In fact, it's the quick innovator that pushes the next big concept that takes the market as seen by the Wii, PS1/2, and NES. If Nintendo isn't on board while one of their competitors makes it work, they'll be left behind again.

OR TO PUT IT BRIEFLY: You aren't every customer, and you can't speak for everyone else. What you want another person won't and what you hate another will love. Quit generalizing based on your own opinion. Frankly, if the industry went strait DD the cost of new games would drop dramatically, most likely below what used games cost now, and all consumers would benefit unless they're simply too afraid to keep up with changing technology.  Sorta like the people who lost their jobs because they couldn't remain competitve when computers started taking over businesses of every sort.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

That's why I said most customers, not all

DD isn't disruptive or innovative enough to give Sony or MS the lead, they need something more

I think not many people anticipated this PSP GO!

Pretty sure that PSP GO cant outsell what the PSP 2k made,
