Nothing has changed, the PC version is still the definitive version.

I agree with that statement 100%, but please let me spell this out for you. I (and other people i'm sure) have absolutely no desire to build a computer that will be more or less useless in 2 years time to play new games. With a ps3 i can play what i'm sure will be a great game (UT3) with the right controls (kb & mouse) without having to pay up a new pc.

OK, now let me spell this out for you:

Do you think that if Unreal 4 comes out within the lifetime of the PS3, that it will actually be that much of a visual improvement over Unreal 3?

Nope, that's right, it will most likely look very similar. Of course, as you know, the PS3 will not receive any sort of ungrades during its lifespan. This means the PS3 version will most likely be very, very dumbed-down compared to the PC version.

But you know what? That same computer that you can use to play Unreal 3 today, can be used to play Unreal 4 in the future. Of course, you will have to suck it up (like all PS3 owners) and turn all the graphics and assorted eye candy to the very lowest setting, but then again, it will look just like, if not better than the PS3 version anyhow. But! The difference is you at least have the option to add a bit more RAM, perhaps upgrade the video card, or maybe the CPU. With the PS3 version, you don't have the luxury of being able to do anything about it - at all, expcept, perhaps, wait for the PS4 to come out, and hope that Unreal 4 will be released for that console as well, by which you are already upgrading your outdated console anyhow.

See a pattern here?

Oh, and btw, you can play Unreal 3 very well thank you with a rig that costs you about the same as a PS3. Hell, my 2-year-old rig can play Unreal 3 with the recommended system requirements, let alone the rig I bought this year.

Pay up a new PC indeed...

You cant be serious.

All any one has to do is think PS2 and the massive leap God of War was over early PS2 games. Now imagine that with the Ps3s high tech pain in the ass to program multiple Spus Cell/RSX symbiotic capability and storage space of bluray.

By the end of the PS3 life cycle it will have games better looking then Crysis.

I think the PS3 can handle a lesser version of UE4, more like a UE 3.5.

"El Cheap" 8800 GTS 320MB is what... $300? That's most of the cost of the ps3/360 right there never mind the rest of the kit.

Tho buy yer PC now, as I've heard rumours that pc component prices will go up in 12 months.

30fps? What resolution?

Anyhow, doesn't matter, as even on the PC version the framerates will be "locked" at 60fps.

But the differences between the PS3 and PC versions don't stop there - have a look at the preliminary benchmarks for the PC:

http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=464&type=expert&pid=5

2560x1600@46.6fps average. Higher Definition indeed...

They aren't going to lock the FPS at 60, there's no good reason to have that hard lock on there.  None of the other UT games did this and I doubt this one will too, though they all do have a console command to lock the FPS.

Yeah, i seriously lol'd when i read that. They don't lock you out of higher than 60fps in PC games!

Currently Playing:

PS4 - Killzone:SF and Assasins Creed 4

XBox One: BF4, CoD:Ghosts, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5

Changing channels with my voice: priceless!!!

8400GS = cheap, runs UT3 well. I'm running the demo on it's max low-res setting lol.

Oh I am serious. Look, compare GoW to GoW2 and tell me that they look like they are generations apart. You are comparing apples and oranges. I am comparing apples and apples.

Additionally, by the same token, do you think that graphical enhancements, improved coding logic and optimizations are the exclusive domain of the PS3? No. All consoles and PC hardware can, and do, benefit from this.

Correct. Same applies to the PC.
