Forums - Sony - Biggest Dutch retailer boycotts PSPgo

I don't think that Sony even expect to this sell that well. They have to sell one million Go consoles with that 249$ price point during holidays and they make about ~100milj.$ profit. That thing cost probably less to make than Wii.

Just a smart way to advertize their store all over the net. They are not of any importance on the Dutch market at all and if consumers can't get their psp go there they will go to the competitor. Just some angry lads who think they have an impact on the world which they do not.

I predicted this back before the PSP:Go was even a rumour. I said that a companny would be daft to bring out a digital distribution only console/handheld because retailers wouldn't stock it, unless they could make hundreds of dollars profit on the hardware.

They can sell games the same way they sell PSN/XBLA/Wii points cards.

I addressed this years ago.I shall tell you the arguments I used and then brag about how right I was :P

If they sell via credit cards only, then retailers get pissed off. Ie what has just happened now :D

If they sell via credit card AND via cards at retailers, I predicted no-one would buy instore. Ie what has happened with Wii Points cards :D

If they sell via cards at retailers only, then this is even less convenient than normal retail systems. So only a fool would do it. And no-one has

Win for Scottie

Not really a surprise. If digital content is ever going to take off then we're going to see a lot more of this.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I predicted this when it was announced

PSP GO! will be the worst hardware sony will have ever made, unreasonable & it will not do great in sales at all.

There is nothing which makes it a "must buy" hand held

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Good, they're clearing up the market space for retailers who can evolve with the times.

They don't want to go down without a fight, but that doesn't mean they aren't going down.

Depending on people's preferences, but buying a PSP-3000 and a 16gb mem-stick is already well more pricier then a PSP Go.

Depending on people's preferences, but buying a PSP-Go and custom ordering an external UMD drive from Sony is already more pricier than a decent car.

ohhh nice come-back to what i stated was a fact.

Sorry, perhaps my point was not clear. I've spent the last 8 hours buried in mathematical equations and haven't seen a word or sentence in a long time :P

Yes, a PSP3000 plus a memory stick is more expensive, but you also get the ability to play UMD games. Some could consider this to be an advantage
