Dodece said: This was a fantastic game, and a license that needed to be revisited at the very least once. The concept has a lot of promise, and the gameplay in the original was wonderful. A shame so few on these forums seem to appreciate that. Then again such logic would have seen a series like Metal Gear get locked away from the light of day too. This was fantastic news this game could really be innovative, and launch a new fresh franchise. Swinging and playing with guns just imagine the possibilities.
I am actually quite sick of hearing about street fighter. I get it a 2D fighter that some people love a lot. However how many of these games do you actually need, or how long till the formula gets too stale. How many 2D fighters have actually been made up to this point, and why would you pay sixty dollars for one.
Sorry had to make the salient point. You shouldn't rag on Bionic Commando unless you think Street Fighter should get an equal ragging. The game was very good for its time, and could be a very interesting game. Even for its time it felt oddly original. |
No you don't get it. Street Fighter isn't simply a 2D fighter. That would be like calling a Mario game simply a platfomer. Street Fighter is the pinnacle of the 2D fighting genre. There hasn't been a Street Fighter game over 8 years now. I think fans of the game have right to want to see another. FPS and Racing titles are a dime a dozen. So, I don't think its too much to ask for one of the premiere franchises in the 2D fighting genre to get a sequel.
The formula of Street Fighter games are hardly stale. The Street Fighter 2 games require a completely different strategy and play style than the Street Fighter 3 titles. The Street Figher Alpha/Zero series had significant changes in each rendition. You can't play SFA2 like you could SFA1, and SFA3 with its various -isms most certainly can't be played like any other game in the series. By the same token you can't go play SFIII like you would any of the games from the Alpha series.
It is fine that you do not care for the series, but don't assume that your views on the series and the genre as a whole are paramount. For whatever reason you seem to think that the 2D fighting game genre is more limited than it is. Of course if Capcom would have bothered to give 2D fighting fans an original 2D fighter in the past 8 years this wouldn't be an issue. If I wanted recycled sprites, I'd re-download MUGEN.
