Forums - Sales - Predict the first week of sales of trhe wii after the price cut

Iwata said they expected this to be their biggest Holiday yet. I didn't think it was possible unless a pricecut occured before the Holidays (Hence my prediction).

But they have 1 thing on their favour: More Wii's.

The supply is enough for them to have a bigger Holiday, the issue lies in how are they planning on selling more than last year. We have from now until November to find out. Something has to happen though for them to be able to sell more consoles, so a price cut is what's probably going to happen. If not, I don't see a chance of it happening.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

definately over 9000

Well normal is 2x, so the Wii has been selling around 200k as is, so I'd say 400k

The Wii fanboys have got to be nervous about this.
The Wii has been tanking for weeks now and WSR did almost nothing.
Well Iwata did say that if WSR didn't renew interest that there would be a price drop.

I'm going to say that it will drop on Sept 27th, and it will sell maybe 380k WW. It will also not match last year's sales from the price drop to the end of the fiscal year.

250k, second week 200k and then back to sub 200k.

250k, maybe 300k.

It won't have a huge jump because it's not a new model. When the holidays hit, it will be a different matter. Those shoppers will be attracted by the price point and it could make a couple million sales difference.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

I'll wait until it is officially confirmed before I predict anything. I will say that a Wii price drop won't be a front-loaded affair like the PS3s, but I wouldn't be surprised if it boosted Wii sales overall more and much longer.

lol prof. sometimes you make some intelligent posts, then at times youre as bad as crazzzzy. the above post was the latter ;) even at its worst, the wii was outselling the hd systems combined, or close to it.
