Edit: Damn, I thought I was in another thread

MS possbily may have been waiting for Nintendo's move when it comes to the Arcade, I do think that a $149 Arcade is possible now if they want to sell it that low, but I tend to think they may wait for a bigger move like the $129 price that the PS2 occupied for like 4 years.
That being said if MS or Sony for that matter wants to do some serious damage this holiday, put Modern Warfare 2 standard edition in the box or a full install on the Hard drive. Not only would it be good for their console sales but in MS's case good for xbox live.

When has a console ever went from $199 to $99 in one cut? I've never heard of such a thing. Next Arcade price is gonna be $179, or maybe $149. |
I may be mistaken but I believe the Gamecube launched at $199 and may have gone to $99 on its first price cut.
looks more like a retailer specific promotion to me, I'll wait till Nintendo say they are cutting the price before I believe anything.
I am the only one who thinks MS won't lower the arcade price this year? They have a nice upcoming line-up plus Natal launch will be comparable to the Slim launch.

It makes a large difference,
Say you are a shopper on the fence for both a PS3 , Wii, or 360 (i'm not even going to consider the Arcade version for this argument).
Wii is considered the lesser of the technology. So do I spend $250 (which can be a lot of money for someone who is on the fence) or spend an extra $50 and add Blu-Ray for practically free. Or go with Xbox because of netflix and my friends are there.
So now the difference is $100 between them. $100 is the type of illusionary milestone mark where things seem significantly more expensive when compared between. Its sort of like buying gas for $3.00 gallon versus the $2.50 gallon it is now. In the grand scheme of things the difference you pay between them all is minimal at best anyway. Especially once you factor in add on accessories and games. But the illusion of $100 difference can be collassal (especially if someone is buying it as a gift)
