Besides the battle system, I don't really get the comparisons with Final Fantasy X to be quite honest.

Also, most of this article is purely speculation, and for the 1000th time, Microsoft had nothing to do with Cry-On and its cancellation.

What similarities?....In FFX you swap charaters mid battle....in LO..the Wall is your life....and as for Cry-On....If Mistwalker had actual programmers and not outsourcing everything maybe there would not be a problem...and also...Mistwalker was trying to get the outsourced company to share devs cost...which= fail....and What was FeelPlus doing?....LO2 KONFIRMED!(Yes MS can remove Mistwalker from the sequel)....LOL...No but really...expect Blue Dragon 2 or LO2 at TGS..if not a brand new exclusive game for the 360...

I don't see why Microsoft would continue with the LO or BD IPs.  Since the relase of the first two games, they have managed to get both Tales and Star Ocean exclusively on their platform.  Both did little in the long term, and I don't see wyh they'd keep spending millions on such tiny IPs that pale in comparison to offerings they already have (in terms of sales).

I don't know if you noticed, but Microsoft has not announced a single JRPG exclusive to their platform since landing Star Ocean (and Tales before that).  Star Ocean was the biggest fish they could hope for (seeing as they'd have no hope in getting FF or DQ), and after that there's just not much reason for them to keep trying.  If Star Ocean couldn't change anything, what can?

They will continue to get many multiplat JRPGs in the future (like Resonance of Fate), but the only exclusives they may get are more SO/Tales titles if they choose to pay for them.  With Vesperia going multiplat, I doubt they'll be able to land another Tales title, and SE has vowed to be multiplat from this point out.  Not to mention paying a third party JRPG developer to go exclusive to 360 in Japan is a lot hard now than it was before the ps3/Wii launched.

The days of Microsoft landing big JRPGs exclusively on the 360 are over, imo.  They've said themselves that they're now focusing on Europe (where Sony is breathing down their neck).  They've likely given up on Japan for now, and will take another swing next gen (or with Natal).  No point sinking more resources into a lost cause.  Those millions could actually do something in Europe.

Also, Microsoft have mentioned no involvement with Mistwalker in particular since the release of Lost Odyssey, and last we heard Mistwalker had obtained Wii dev kits.  It's likely Microsoft dropped Mistwalker (like they have so many other first/second party devs) after landing Tales and Star Ocean.  When it comes to Japan, either of those IPs means more than all of Mistwalker's projects combined.

Mgana Carta II....

And What JRPG's exclusives?   The Last Renmant SO 4 are  the only I know....Every other Exclusive MS Owns...And since when was Star Ocean Big in terms of sales?...

And do exactly what?...FIFA?...What games are big in eroupe and not anywhere else?

MistWalker does not develop games....Plain and simple...Maybe now on Wii since they have devs kits...Blue Dragon and LO were outsorced...

Are you really asking when SO was big in sales? I'll give you a hint... it started with the word play and ended with the number 2

well he said that based on what he thought of the sales of the xbox 360 JRPG's (he obviously meant JRPG's in context to this thread).......which many people believe to be poor......so technically, he's not exactly wrong, even though his statement is brash.

Zizzla on the other hand, came in & started insulting PS3 fanboys & bringing up the FF13 going multiplat issue.

So, going by your assumption of how he thinks, they should have released Resistance 2/Killzone 2 on the 360 and LittlBigPlanet on the Wii? They would have sold more because of the demographics.

No indication what-so-ever that LBP would have done nearly as good... in fact... there are examples of the opposite... Resistance and Killzone are terrible examples also. Considering both are owned by Sony... Is the LO IP owned by MS? If so I havent heard of it. HAZE would have been a much better example on your part, and yes, it should have went on the 360. Ziz is just a scared guy who just posts Sony FUD.

HAHAH.....your a funny guy JEDE3

Yes MS Owns LO IP Along with Blue Dragon and Ifinite Undiscovery...

First of...+1 Fail points to all the PS3 fanboys....MS own The Lost Odessey IP...And Sakaguchi nor Mistwalker Developed this game...This game was developed by FeelPlus...(Which is owned by MS)
Sakaguchi and MistWalker directed design and developed the Story and Music parts of the game...

Second...LO had fantastic Sales going over 500k...I'm currently on the second disc and loving it...It has that Feel that pre FFVII FF games had...

Thank you and Sorry about the whole one region exclusivity thing for FFXIII....

That is incorrect.  FeelPlus is one of a trio of development houses under AQ Interactive, the others being Artoon (which did the grunt work for Blue Dragon) and Cavia (which was working on the now canceled Cry-On).  FeelPlus is actually working on a Wii title at the moment.

I love people that come in with a "better than thou" attitude only to start spouting false information.  Being condescending to others only bites you in the ass when you inevitably screw something up.

humm...I read somewhere that MS Own FeelPlus...but your probly right...Everything else I said was true..MistWalker does not control the  LO Ip

It was... until somebody just edited it a couple minutes ago!!!

I remember just looking at the wiki of it and then checked again just now... SHADY

wiki history

I wonder who's IP address that is.

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

@music, I understand what you are saying regarding exclusivity, and I'm sure there was fiduciary considerations, however, we don't know that there were large amounts of money involved as there could have been other considerations. For example, Square has said they really want to tap the western design market, and they could be looking to the 360 as a segue to reaching that market with new products.

I don't know that that is the case, but I just think that a lot of people on these boards think that Sony is this altruistic company that has never paid for exclusivity and that MS is this evil corporation and jump to the conclusion that is all they do. Personally I know there is a lot more to the business world than that. Note, I'm NOT accusing you of saying these things...nor did I make any claims about FO3 DLC...though I'm not really sure why you think I would.

Well if they had to be exclusive YES for Resistance 2 & Killzone 2, especially killzone 2 would have done GEOW 1 level sales....NO for LittleBigPlanet....as wii hasn't been proven to sell those type of games yet

@Zizzla

so?

the article mentions those things, is that a chance to start being fanboyish about them?

Maybe if there's a sequel, they could try to make the game fun this time.

I hope so.

Magna Carta was announced in 2005.

Also, Star ocean is the best selling JRPG franchise in Japan after DQ, FF, KH, and Pokemon, with Tales close behind it.  Star Ocean 4 may have sold horribly becauseof the platform, but the franchise generally sells over a million worldwide, putting up over 600k in Japan alone.  SO3 in Japan outsold SO4 worldwide.
