whats the point of launching 100 gb blu rays?

Sony obiovsly wont use it all for gaming, movies only take about 1-2 gigs max so really
there is no point to them

Not really, the drive is still limited to 2x speed so read time is the same. If anything it'll make it worse since there may be additional seeking and there'll be so much more needed to be read.

Movies like The dark knight and Wall-E are 40 GB+, 100GB disks will probably eliminate the need for 2 or more disk sets, all the bonuses will come on one disk
